DAVENPORT, Iowa - Rep. Tom Tancredo started barnstorming through eastern Iowa on Thursday, talking immigration to religious conservatives and stepping up his flirtation with the 2008 presidential race.

The Littleton Republican arrived in Moline, Ill., then made the short drive across the Mississippi River into Davenport.

Iowa is home to the first presedential caucuses in 2008, and Tancredo wants the big-name contenders to take up his crusade to stop illegal immigration.

"If you don't approach this thing as if you are completely serious, you can't accomplish any goal," he said.

Yeah like being totally serious running to the liberal media cameras and saying Tom Delay should resign.

I don't think he said he should resign, he said that it may be constructive for DeLay to step aside during the investigation.

It was totally stupid. If every Republican stepped aside everytime a RAT made an accusation, it would cripple all Republican lawmakers. It's the same as surrender.

When we get hit by terrorists like London just did, or worse, and it comes to light they snuck in through our STILL unsecured southern border...

C'mon. When we get hit again, they'll be here on expired student visas or something. The only reason they'd need to cross the border would be to move something really big (like large quantities of poison gas, bioweapons, or nuclear components). Even those could be shipped in a container.

Peddle on, Tom. You're the only one in Washington who has any sense.

Indeed. With that comment, Tancredo showed his true colors.

That is because he is nothing but a clone of Buchanan. He runs on the race card and attacks fellow Republicans every chance he gets.

"...he plans to do interviews with the state's largest Christian radio outlet and others, and to meet with the man who once managed the presidential candidacy of Pat Buchanan.

" The trip is being coordinated by Buchanan's sister,Angela "Bay" Buchanan, who leads the Team America PAC that Tancredo founded to advance tougher enforcement of immigration laws.

"Bay Buchanan, a veteran political operative, said that one way or another, "We will have somebody who is committed to the (immigration) issue" on the presidential ballot in 2008. "

.

Anyone who doubts that Tancredo is nothing but Pat Buchanan's sock puppet is blind.

Furthermore, with Bay as his apparent campaign manager there can be no doubt that Tancredo is not going to be a serious candidate. Like Pat Buchanan, he'll just be using the free publicity and federal matching funds to build a mailing list of suckers from whom he can solicit money afyter the election is over. Running for President can be very profitable if you aren't trying to ewin.

What 'race' card?

If the American people don't act to keep immigration rules a sovereign function of Congress, the WTO via GATTS will decide our immigration levels. They are working right now to make immigration a trade decision. Do you know how unconstitutional this is? Yet if we don't get people elected that will stand up to the internationalist juggernaut, we won't have any authority as citizens anymore.

At least one person, Tancredo, is standing for the American people, and American sentiment right now is to control immigration and control our borders. What is wrong with that?

And when the terrorists attack here again, and they will, who gets the blame??? The voters who won't vote for a candidate that will control the borders...When we get attacked again, we'll deserve it...

just because someone "gets the blame", doesn't mean they ARE the one to blame!

Isolationism is not an option.

Tancredo never said Delay should "resign", but the Tancredo haters figure if they repeat this lie long enough, people will believe it. It's the only thing they can cling to in their effort to undermine Tancredo since their old attempts to attack him for not being pro-illegal like them never worked.

If we use the tancredo-haters definition of "resign", then George W. Bush "resigned the Presidency" on June 29, 2002, when Cheney became acting President for a few hours while Bush underwent surgery. Perhaps the Tancredo haters should explain the President about his "resignation" when he temporarily stepped aside. He didn't seem to get the memo.

It ain't a Tancredo thread unless Dane puts in his mandatory "Tancredo backstabbed Delay and said he should resign!!!" and Bayourod puts in HIS mandatory post about how Tancredo is a "Pat Buchanan sock puppet". (BTW, I'm STILL waiting for Bayourod to explain why Pat's "sock puppet" endorsed Bush in 2000 and didn't lift a FINGER to help Pat's presidential campaign. I expect he'll answer when hell freezes over)

The Dane-Bayourod tag team are devoid of ideas and lost without their usual talking points.

Dane and Bayourod don't want to respond with facts or logic, just hurl ad hominid attacks at Tancredo because they're upset Buch handily carried his district while Tancredo won re-election easily. They were hoping and praying his open-borders socialist RAT opponent took out Tancredo or Kerry would win Tancredo's district to prove their goofy theory about how much Tancredo was "undermining" Bush.

Facts are like krptonite to the Tancredo-haters.
