Vatican 'Working Document' Says It is Sinful to Support Pro-Abortion Politicians

Stresses Scandal of Receiving Communion while supporting Abortion

VATICAN, July 7, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Vatican held a press conference today to present the "Instrumentum laboris" (working document) for the Eleventh Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, scheduled to be held in the Vatican from October 2 to 23, 2005 on the theme: "The Eucharist: Source and Summit of the Life and Mission of the Church." The document, drawn up on the basis from Church leaders throughout the world to a draft called the "Lineamenta", lamented "the fact that too many faithful receive communion without having sufficiently reflected upon the morality of their lives."

Article 73 of the 88-page document says, "there exist Catholics who do not understand why they commit a sin when they support politically a candidate openly in favour of abortion or other grave acts against life, justice, and peace."

Commenting on the reception of communion, the same article says, "Certain (faithful) communicate even if they deny the teachings of the church or support publicly immoral choices, such as abortion, without thinking that they are committing a personal action which is profoundly dishonest or that they are a source of scandal."

The document calls the disturbing developments "a crisis on what it means to belong to the church as well as a lack of clarity in the distinction between venial sin and mortal sin."

Pointing out the vast difference between church practice in the developing and developed nations, the document notes that attendance at Sunday Mass "is high in various particular Churches in the countries of Africa and also in some Asian countries. The opposite is the case in the majority of countries in Europe, America and Oceania."

Space is also dedicated to deficiencies in the celebration the Eucharist which "challenge a sense of the sacred." These include neglectfulness in the use of correct liturgical vestments, participants wearing unbefitting clothing, or the scant architectural and artistic quality of church buildings.

See, Rome is following in my wake!

Not only should you not vote for people who want to kill your babies, you must be prepared for the possibility that they just might want to kill you should they get elected.

Wish these guys'd get a bit more specific on Teddy Kennedy though ~ just boot him out ~ Gad, this should be simple for anyone.

It's about time...Folks like the Kennedys, Kerrys, Durbins, Leahys, Landrues get away with many devout catholic voters who for some reason choose to ignore the fact that these very politicians are almost herectics!

As a Catholic myself, I am ashamed and sadden that so many of our leading pro-abortion politicians are Catholic.

I can only hope excommunications come next....

Hmmmm...I wonder what will happen to the demonrat party if this should happen??? (insert evil laughter here)

Democratic Catholics and Presidential Choice

In June 2004, the total Catholic vote was divided evenly between President George Bush and Senator John Kerry. Both candidates enjoyed a large margin of partisan support. Independent voters were split between the two candidates, and 30% remained undecided.

This is good news. Of course, the Democrats will protest that they're not really in favor of abortion, just the right to have one. I'm sure the fetus appreciates the intellectual distinction. Fortunately the Catholic Church does not.

As a product of 12yrs of catholic education, I left the church, and follow the teachings of Martin Luther. Seeing the history and present, I state this with no hatred or bitterness, but I have come to the conclusion that the Roman Catholic Church is the first and still most powerful multinational corporation ever.

I respected Pope John Paul II and respect Pope Benedict for trying to bring the RC Church back to its roots. Pope Benedict has a lot of work ahead of him. Lots of Cafeteria Catholics addicted to moral relativism abound in on the East Coast and urban areas around the country.

Anecdote:
Our small little Church (congregation 165) put together 4400 crosses in the shape of the Missouri Synod Cross for a pro life exhibit. We started in 1994, on Route 41 in Indiana several years. We have since passed on a large number of these crosses to several Pro Life groups. Lots of work and a member had land on Route 41, and we placed the crosses in a fallow field.

The help from the very profitable RC Parish was non existent. The pastor had a "whats in it for my parish" attitude and although a few passers by from the parish helped us set up, the silence was deafening.

NOTE: IF anyone has a need for around 600 crosses (wood, painted white, 22" x 11"they are still available. Ping me if you can give them a home

Off my soapbox

1400 Ecclesial communities derived from the Reformation and separated from the Catholic Church, "have not preserved the proper reality of the Eucharistic mystery in its fullness, especially because of the absence of the sacrament of Holy Orders."236 It is for this reason that Eucharistic intercommunion with these communities is not possible for the Catholic Church. However these ecclesial communities, "when they commemorate the Lord's death and resurrection in the Holy Supper . . . profess that it signifies life in communion with Christ and await his coming in glory."237
