I'm a Republican, a conservative one at that, living on the South Side of Chicago. And yes, I'm African American. Quite a rarity, I know. I make do by being a little cantankerous but, at the same time, refusing to judge people by their political beliefs. Demonizing the other side is occasionally fun but ultimately useless. I have strong political opinions and expect my opponents to as well.
