A terror group linked to al Qaeda says it carried out a series of terror attacks on London that have left a number of people dead and hundreds injured.
A previously unknown group calling itself "Secret Organisation al Qaeda in Europe" said it carried out the attacks as revenge for British "military massacres" in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Two London hospitals have reported a total of 185 wounded after a series of blasts hit locations across the city on buses and Tube stations.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said there was evidence of explosives at at least two of the six sites.
Scotland Yard has denied reports they were warned of an attack by Israel minutes before the blasts.
Two people have been confirmed dead and at least 90 people injured in the explosion at Aldgate Station.
Prime Minister Tony Blair, issued a joint statement from all the leaders at the G8 summit.
"This is not an attack on one nation - it's an attack on all nations and civilised people everywhere," he said.
"It's important however that those engaged in terrorism realise that our determination to defend our values and way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people."
Witness, Angie, saw the bus explode in Russell Square. She said: "There were a whole lot of people around the bus. Next thing I was on the floor and there were a lot of people on me.
"I thought I was going to be crushed. The bus was ripped out at the back. It must have been a bomb."
The entire Tube network has been shut down and police have confirmed blasts at four sites: Russell Square and King's Cross Underground; Moorgate, Aldgate, and Liverpool Street Underground; Edgware Road Underground; and Tavistock Square where there has been a confirmed explosion on a bus.
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from King's Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umbrellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around King's Cross covered in soot.
Bitter experience? I was pretty damned shocked when Spain folded.
Not if you pay close attention.
no flame intended.
I obsess on this kind of stuff. More than is probably healthful.
My jaw is set.
You wouldn't expect more from DU, would you? Remember, DU is not the US--if it were, Kerry would be president today.
I just began taking lessons to get my private pilot's license, and I'll be more than happy to volunteer to carry the payload for that little mission!

Agreed.
We're with you Ivan. Hopefully your countrymen will see take the threat seriously.
"You wouldn't expect more from DU, would you? Remember, DU is not the US--if it were, Kerry would be president today."
Taking them lightly is just as dangerous as taking muslims lightly. It's not like the election was 90%-10% for Bush. It was 51-49 or thereabouts. A SIGNIFICANT portion of the population is represented at the DU. Therefore... the war on terror is really a war on two fronts... muslims, and liberals.
I would have NUKED MECCA on Sept, 12th 2001 if I was President.
As a matter of fact, I would have Nuked all of those red dots on the map below on Sept, 13th 2001. Then resigned my office after I erasing Islam of the face of the earth.
Well, then, shall we just launder and press our white flags and keep them at the ready?
Our hearts and prayers go out to England. Like Laura Ingraham said, "An attack on England is an attack on the US."
I already know what the answer is to this question [having gone through this myself in the US], but please let us know officially:
How are the Brits 'on the street' talking about this?
This is us, really - we carry on. Obviously we want to get them back, but we are carrying on. If their intent was to make us paralysed with fear - they lost.
Regards, Ivan
"Therefore... the war on terror is really a war on two fronts... muslims, and liberals."
Correct. And the liberals have a better chance of defeating us than the Islamo-facists.
I should have known. God bless the Brits!
They're pretty well teamed up. DU has gone completely stomach-retching traitorous this AM. The CAIR web site doesn't even acknowledge that anything happened in London; they're more concerned with mosque "vandalism" in Baltimore.
Was out early in the fields. Came in and saw this tragedy on Free Republic. Ran your name to see you posting. For what it's worth I am glad to see you are ok.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the families. Will look for updates and am off to check the news.
God bless,
Irish Catholic
Damn straight. We don't forget our friends that stuck by us. Whatever Tony Blair wants to do I stand behind his decision. Any extra money this will cost us, I don't care. It's payback time.
MadIvan,
Our prayers are with you. From a Texan. I'll try to find a Union Jack to fly next to my American flag. We're all in this together, and the US won't forget the brave citizens of Britain.
Bump!
Those DU'ers really make me sick.
Wish I was just 10 years younger and could be back with the Marines. I'd trade anything for the opportunity to personally "explain" to these terrorist why this behavior is not a good idea.
