There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna turn, in got a piece of a hurricane to get ready for tomorrow.
Nor for me!!
Perfect!
Thanks, Rod.
You see, ohioWfan, Txsleuth?
That ties in exactly with the origin of this thread!

Katie: "We can only hope that the bombers got away safely."
Wow, you didn't get booted? They blocked me for the same thing - might have been aol though.
when the comments are unfair or untrue.
Then they should be defended.
I am not a kool-aid drinker, after all.
Glad to hear that.
"When you meet the unbelievers, strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives." Surat Mohammed:4
"The just retribution for those who fight Allah and His messenger, and commit horrendous crimes, is to be killed, or crucified, or to have their hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, or to be banished from the land. This is to humiliate them in this life, then they suffer a far worse retribution in the hereafter." Surat Al-Ma'ida:33
"O believers, do not take Jews and Christians as allies, they are allies of one another. Those among you who ally themselves with these belong with them." Surat Al-Ma'ida:51
The sad part is that I really don't know if you made up that quote.
This is the first time I have seen something like this. I appreciate the link. Thank you. It'll take me a few days to digest it.
I did get booted from a couple, but I would do it again and will in 08 as well! :)
Shit piles high in France.
So true. And they will continue to kill after the Iraq war is over and done with. This is their "religion", a Jihad to force the world into their "faith" for Allah. People just don't get it do they?
God be with you all in London. I am definitely praying for you. I hope you catch these bastards. I really do.
You're a tough one. Is that how you came by your screen name? (which I love, btw)
The Palestinian Islamist resistance group Hamas condemned the London bombings.
"Targeting civilians in their transport means and lives is denounced and rejected," Moussa Abu Marzouk, deputy chief of the group's political bureau, said. - Al-jazeera
funny it is... but could we consider it a start???
Well I am willing to fight for what I believe in, the name was to honor the troops and the W is for President Bush, so I am just doing my little part to keep our country away from the liberals. Thanks BTW, I like your tagline.
"This will certainly give a boost to al-Qaida morale, because being able to attack a large superpower with coordinated attacks during a summit meeting when security and targets are even more hardened is a sign of success.
Rather than attacking during the Live8 concert series, whose members terrorists would want just as dead, the attack fell during the G8, which has an important effect on those on the far left.
In other words, rather than alienating the important part of the public that gives terrorist sympathies (meaning those who will claim they are merely freedom fighters), terrorists have "protested" the same entity as them---G8 summit.
And of course, not all Live8 participants are of the far left and have sympathies with terrorist groups, but surely there are a number.
Now this will also force questions if London can handle the security needed for the Olympic games."

If they work in Defense contracting or government, then all bets are off.
