BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

I don't see how you can even read DU or move on. They are hate filled anit americans and other activists. They are not worth the keys they type out.

As for CSPAN, who cares what they say, they are much like the freaks at those left sites. This is not about them. This is about the TERRORIST who have so much hate in their heart that they want destruction on innocent people. Or maybe it is much like those left hate groups, they want to blame blame blame anyone but the people who did these murders.

The total number of US citizens of Japanese descent convicted of espionage: zero.

Espionage was not the only concern. Among those who were interned, in addition to Japanese nationals, were 3,500 Japanese-Americans (U.S. citizens) who renounced their U.S. Citizenship and demanded expatriation to Japan, 150 or so known members of the anti-American/pro-Japan Black Dragon Society; and 18,000 expatriates and repatriates who declared allegiance to Japan and rejected allegiance to the U.S.

They used to teach this in high school, but that has now been swept under the rug of Political Correctness. However you slice it, these people were certainly enemies of the U.S. and a significant threat. Internment was certainly controversial, but then again, the U.S. suffered little in the way of sabotage. Back then, we cast a wide net to round up the likely troublemakers. Today, we've convinced ourselves that we have better and more culturally-sensitive methods. Frankly, the jury is still out.

President Bush warned Americans on Thursday to be "extra vigilant" as they head to work after the deadly explosions in London.

Bush said he spoke with federal homeland security officials back in Washington.

"I instructed them to be in touch with local and state officials about the facts of what took place here and in London and to be extra vigilant as our folks start heading to work," Bush told reporters from a summit of world leaders here.

"The war on terror goes on," he said. "We will not yield to these people, we will not yield to the terrorists."

In Washington, the Homeland Security Department asked authorities in major cities for heightened vigilance of transportation systems, though the nation's threat level was not raised.

Bush offered the "heartfelt condolences" of the American people to the victims and their families in London.

Minutes before, British Prime Minister Tony Blair had read a joint statement from all the leaders gathered at the summit being held at a posh resort here.

"I was most impressed by the resolve of all the leaders in the room," Bush said. "Their resolve is as strong as my resolve."

Blair then rushed to London, and Bush said the British leader would "carry a message of solidarity" with him from his fellow world leaders.

A half-dozen blasts rocked the London subway and tore open at least one packed double-decker bus in nearly simultaneous explosions during Thursday's morning rush hour. Deaths and injuries mounted and officials shut down the entire underground transport network.

Security at the summit was not affected, and Bush had no plans to return to Washington early. But G-8 leaders took a long break in their morning opening session so they could get individual briefings on developments.

one of his sources in the Security Service had told him that AQ had been phoning through false alarms to London stations and then observing the
evacuation to maximise casualities.

%%%%%%

This is what concerns me about seeing emergency drills or, for example, the evacuation of the Capitol, which get shown on TV on a regular basis. Too much info helpful to the terrorists, I think.

Well, there's the Islamists, the truly "peaceful Muslims" (percieved by the former as apostates), and the Islamist sympathizers.

My 60-80% guess is for a combination of categories 1 and 3.

What I'm talking about is "disengagement." We have two civilizations which are highly incompatible.

I'm just getting really tired of this crap. It needs to stop.

Well, the Tube is shut down until further notice, so at least on that transit system, it won't happen.

Our four grandkids were all in central London at the time, but are safe, thank God. The perps are probably on tape as London has cameras everywhere, including subways. How the Brit government reacts to the Muslim attacks will be interesting. My daughter just emailed me from London and said they need a national ID card to control the influx of terrorists. So do we, but it will not happen if our own terrorist-loving RATs have their usual say.

Will Galloway and the mayor of London blame it on Bush and the war in Iraq? It's inevitable. The leftists never blame the true perps, the Muslim terrorists. The war goes on and will continue to worsen until we take out the terrorist sponsor nations, especially Iran and Syria.
