BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

To clarify, I'm talking about Mohammedans who are hostile to the U.S.

You can figure out for yourself what proportion of "Muslims" that is. My guess is 60%-80%.

You're saying that 60-80% of the Muslims in the US are hostile to the nation? I doubt that a lot.

Very few of them are Islamists. The Islamists hate Muslims that don't believe the way they do. They're our allies in this fight.

I just heard this on radio. Is it for real ?

Hate to say it, but it's real. I don't think there would be 2,500 posts and this still in Breaking if it weren't.

There is a quote from the movie "Platoon", which is from Tom Berenger, and was only two simple words in extreme anger and disgust, morphing into revenge.

The first word was "Them".

Such a quote would indeed be appropriate at this time; although not allowed by the Mods. Stay safe over there.

I agree. The other thing that needs to be done is immediate retaliation after such an attack. The UK should have sent missiles to Damascus 5 minutes after the bombings.

It is best for everyone here to simply assume that all who are captured by terrorists are dead, and that they will die in a horrific manner. It is not only realistic, it saves on attitudes of "maddening", etc. They are dead - period - and we must destroy their killers.

U.S. Cities Asked To Step Up Transit Security
Deadly Blasts Rocked London Transit System

(AP) WASHINGTON The Homeland Security Department asked authorities in major cities Thursday for heightened vigilance of transportation systems after a series of explosions on London transit systems.

Security was stepped up in Washington, with bomb-sniffing dogs and armed police officers patrolling subways and buses—ridden by about 1.2 million people a day—and looking for anything suspicious. Passengers were being urged to report any suspicious activity.

A police helicopter repeatedly circled the Robert F. Kennedy stadium area, a major transportation hub with several bus stops and large commuter parking lots.

At the Pentagon, police officers said they had been placed on a heightened alert shortly after the London attacks.

Security around the massive home of the Defense Department, hit in the Sept. 11 attacks, was more visible than normal Thursday, with police officers in squad cars, on bicycles and on foot deployed in greater numbers than usual on the perimeter roadways and the Metro station.

Other major cities also heightened security on transit systems.

In Boston, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney raised the security level on the city’s transit system. Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said the heightened security level is similar to the “Code Orange” used by federal authorities.

Increased police coverage of subways, buses and transit stations was also ordered throughout New York City.

In Los Angeles, a police official said police had activated a special command center and officials were meeting to decide whether to upgrade security levels around the city.

A spokeswoman for the Chicago Transit Authority said transit officials were working with Chicago Police on additional security measures. CTA spokeswoman Kimberly Myles said announcements were being made to riders to be aware of their surroundings and to alert transit workers about suspicious packages.

Similar announcements were made in Cleveland and several other cities.

But hey...I wonder what was served for breakfast in Gitmo this morning?

Muslim leaders join condemnation

Needless to say, some posters are now saying "So what! I don't believe them!".

I want them to keep talking. They just demonstrate how insane they are.

True the more the left of this world speak and do their nutty actions the more they aid the terrorist. However, this makes me even more determined to have President Bush and Tony Blair on the correct side of this war! The hollywood weirdos can just go on and aid those who want to destroy us, and they will see their profits and 5 homes decline to a dream. Resolve!!! That is what President Bush has and I admire him more today than any other day. Thank God for him and his fellow leaders that know this is an attact on our society! The Terrorist will NEVER WIN!

One of my best friends lived in London for eight years. That is exactly something she would do.

She now lives in New York and on September 11th, she was exiting her subway a few miles from WTC just as the second plane hit the tower.

Shopping is a stress reliever for some people.
