Senator Lindsey Graham made it very clear on the Hannity radio show today. If some conservatives thought he would get wobbly in the Supreme Court battle, that fear should now be abated.
Graham will support the Constitutional option if the DemocRATS try to filibuster a qualified candidate because of ideology.
Graham noted that it was not done with Scalia or Ginsberg. It has never been done that way.
He further noted that the President, who was elected twice, made it clear that he most respects Scalia and Clarence Thomas. That is the type of pick Graham expects.

Graham did duck the question on Bolton who he assured us in an earlier Hannity appearance would get an up or down vote.
I just heard John Warner say he would also vote for the constitutional option if democrats invoke the filibuster. Interesting.
Even the RINOS know this is a battle we must win. I think we will see some gona..........no, let's say we will see some backbone here.
Good question -- jury is still out on this one. I think he is stupid though and his attempting to best the junior senator from NY makes him make dumb moves. I also think that neither of the NY Senators have a lot of political savvy, e.g. Hillary waving the newspaper rag around on the Senate floor about when Bush knew -- never forget that one.
That said think it is a toss-up but it sure backfired if he was trying to stir the pot! Looks like an idiot if he now says he didn't mean it -- I think he got carried away and forgot where he was up to but I notice Republicans are not taking the bait just in case. Better to let Americans see Schumer as a Senator out of touch with reality!
Don't think the Dems won't oppose the nominee on some BS ethical, etc. ground as well. This is what I am afraid of. Then and the moderate 7 caving citing they alternative BS reasoning.
Sen. Graham did sound sincere in the Hannity interview so we shall see.
Very good advice. I think people should let it play out and not worry so much. People were wringing their hands on here in 2000 about the VP was going to be pro-abortion. I did a long vanity on why not and said I would leave FR for good if he picked a pro-abortion person. I am still here because the pick was Dick Cheney.
People on here took his defense of Gonzales to mean he was the person he was picking -- he was just mad at everyone going after him. No way would this President tip his hand IMHO! Never has before.

He also took the time to get in several references to the fact HE would support a Scalia and that HE was a pro-Life Constitutionalist. Using the opportunity to attempt to concince people back home, I suspect.
This is the same Lindsey that is taking shots at the handling of the WOT and urging tax increases.
Look, if Lindsey does the right thing I'll take it. I have no scruples that would prohibit using him as he has used us to launch his "maverick" career.
But I cannot be persuaded he was converted on a lonely dusty street in Washington and suddenly saw the light. He isn't to be trusted, and I want him gone in '08.
Until then it's quite possible the furor we launched scared him back to the right side of the aisle, but we'll see. he qualified his very last remark about agreeing to end the filibuster at the end of his segment. If he had responded with a simple "YES" I'd be more likely to believe he means it.
What I heard him say was that if the Democrats' filibuster was "unfair" he would vote for the nuclear option. He wasn't asked what would constitute
"unfair."
The GOP has shown commendable restraint in crafting prototype language for the Constitutional Option. My wish is that they would be more forthcoming with a basic education regarding the purpose of cloture for their constituents.
All of his nominations have been qualified IMHO and all were vetted. Graham is wrong if you ask me!
Unfortunately, you leave out the little fact that he would first have to crawl out of McStain's butt, and then get permission from the Manchurian Pilot to do ANYTHING!
Hey, Lindsey...here's a helpful clue...when you want to do something that McStain doesn't want to do, just flash him that Queen of Hearts playing card....it's easier that way!

In the end, Bush will get his appointments.
I'm certain Bush would prefer to do it with decorum, rather than ugly. (Unlike the popular outcry on FR, I'll give benefit of doubt to some of the seven Republicans in the deal. I think they too want decorum, and the politeness of the Senate of olde.)
The dems sound like they will go ugly. Since they will not actually block the confirmations, they must make as much noise as possible, to convince their constituents they tried really hard.)
Earlier, Fred Thompson was appointed to spirit the process, eg. assist in the confirmation.
It will be fun to listen and watch a professional smooth talking southern lawyer, actor and politician wrap words around the deaniac party crazies. He'll talk Tennessee'an.

We BETTER get Scalia or Thoms type picks! It is precisely for such a time as this that I voted for W, twice, as did millions of other constitutional conservatives. Now is the time to deliver, Mr. President! Now is the time to have a backbone, Republicans!
