I'm posting this at RonDog's request, and to give a quick update on a successful FReep at SaMo City College -- the gang is still "networking" at the after-party, so photos should follow!
Kudos to RonDog for organizing 20+ FReepers, plus some outstanding SaMo College Republicans who met at the corner of 16th and Pico in support of Governor Ahhnold, and to help counter the cancer from A.N.S.W.E.R. We had tons of media exposure -- all of the local TV stations, radio, and print outlets were there, and many interviewed folks from our side. We should see some of this on the local news tonight. The "alternative" press was out in force, and interviews were given, but you could tell that their hearts weren't in it!
We did have some attention from the smelly opposition, but nothing untoward occured, which is always good.
The bad guys were broken up into two groups, a block to the east of our location. The Mechistas and Answer commies had their little Klatch, and the Union thugs had a separate gathering.
My own little anecdote: as I was approaching our corner (late, per usual), a young woman warned me to "be careful, there's fascists on the corner". When I arrived at the corner, I didn't see any of those, just a bunch of nice people holding "go Arnold" signs. So, she was either engaging in hyperbole, or (more likely) is an example of the unhinged left.
Following the festivities on the street, we repaired to a local eatery, and were joined by the college Republicans. According to their report, no major nonsense occured during Arnold's speech, though a few members of the "progressive alliance" walked out, and some people made low-level noise to ruin the event for the rest of the people there.
Hoping others will fill in.
I stayed up and taped the segment on The Oreilly Factor (FOX News), aired on 6-15-2005, about the SMC graduation protest. Oreilly referred to the people protesting/snubbing the Gov. as "morons," and used that word twice. He goes on to refer to them as: "out of control," "rude," unAmerican," "disrespectful." He said, "We don't treat our elected officials with that kind of disrespect." He said, "SMC should be ashamed of itself."
Virtually nothing was shown of the support for Arnold, but I did catch a glimpse of one SMC Instructor applauding the Gov., and I believe one of the faculty sponsors of SMC Republicans standing to her left (no more than a second or two of tape). The camera then panned left to show about 6 or 8 faculty members with their backs turned to the Gov. The camera panned further left to show two women standing behind the Gov. with their backs to him, holding a sign that said, "$180,000.00 buys a lot of books." The Instructor on the left resembled an Instructor whose name I know, but I cannot be sure it was her.
Given Orielly's popularity, a whole lot of people in America saw this segment.
Great work Ron!
As is our tradition, in our recent post-FReep discussions, we have been reviewing what we did RIGHT, what we did WRONG, and what we could have done BETTER.The bottom line remains:
1 - We took on A.N.S.W.E.R. and the "union thugs" on their home turf, and shut them down. All of our pre-FReep objectives were therefore accomplished -- with FLYING COLORS!
(They were anticipated to have 3,000 to 5,000 protesters outside, and they had 200 to 300, at BEST.)2 - We got EXTENSIVE (positive) media coverage for our "pro-Arnold" message.
(We were PARTICULARLY effective in getting onto LOCAL television, but we also got very good quotes into the NATIONAL media.)3 - We provided technical assistance which enabled the SMC College Republicans to be become a MAJOR power in their community.(They did a GREAT job when the President came to the Santa Monica airport last year, but THIS time they distributed seven hundred "Welcome, Back, ARNOLD!" buttons, and conducted an AMAZING pre-event press conference.)
We had intentionally chosen NOT to politicize the events INSIDE Corsair Stadium. In retrospect, since it turned out that we were SO successful countering the opposition's disruption on the OUTSIDE, perhaps we could have devoted some of our resources to countering the opposition's disruption INSIDE.
(As it happened, our opponents chose NOT remain non-political inside.)
Fortunately, there is ALWAYS a "next time." :o)
Super FReep and report!
Thanks to all of the FReepers and others who stood up to the leftists.
Really I don't see why the Arnoldbots and CA Democrats want to argue so much. They both happily support pro-abortion, pro-gay gun-grabbing, envirowacko candidates who spend zillions on embroyic stem cell research and illegal aliens handouts "for the children". It should be easy to get along with the same agenda.
If Arnold switched his affliation to "D" and Fabio Nunez changed to "R", but both kept the EXACT same positions, you'd watch their "supporters" swap places at the campus.
On the other hand, I often judge people by the enemies arrayed against them.Perhaps YOU should wonder why you seem to be on the same side as THESE guys, from "cancer from A.N.S.W.E.R." website:

You are wrong and grossly misrepresenting the nature and substance of Republican Party politics in California. You have some ability in computer graphics, but your textual presentation is greatly flawed. Arnold has already proven far better for CA, in a large number of areas (including all the ones you cite), than Davis ever was. You ignorantly misrepresent the "Gestalt" of CA politics, and put lies into the mouths of California Republicans. That makes you a liar, not us.
Perhaps you live in an area of the country that is all comfortably in line with every ideology you profess and therefore you have nothing to do, but work against other Republicans in America, California who are working for change in difficult liberal bastions of the country. It is people like you who go around incorrectly judging others in a "holier than thou" attitude, to make yourself feel superior, that drives people away from the Republican party. Sadly, you appear as prejudiced as you are ignorant.
Computer graphics do not add substance or credibility to your "hack" political analysis. When it comes to presenting your views inarticulately and in a poorly researched, inaccurate, offensive and insulting manner you have far, far more in common with A.N.S.W.E.R. than any CA Republican I've ever met.
P.S. By the way it's embryonic, not embroyic.
Oh come on.
Arnold may be a long way from anyone's ideal Republican (and I didn't even vote for the guy), but to suggest that there's no difference between him and the genuine, no-kidding socialists in the 'Rat legislature is just silly.
The whole segment was one of those teaser segments that they advertised at spots during the whole show, but it actually aired in the final 10 minutes of the show. The only parts I saw that even showed "somewhat of a positive side" was when Fran was shown applauding (one or two second shot), and the intro by Randy, and one other shot on stage. As I mentioned the shot with Fran had a camera pan that showed protestors with backs turned and signs for more time than it showed Fran applauding. The opening shot of protestors that ran after Randy's intro ran about 15 seconds by my count. Breslau at one point said, "It looked like the extras had taken over the set." They did show one other stage shot with Arnold speaking. I saw Tom Donner, SMC Acting President, applauding. That one or two seconds was mostly supportive visually, but you could hear the disruptive noise from the crowd. They showed a few seconds clip of Arnold in another venue smiling and pleasant, and that was positive. The coverage of the event was all quick camera work and editing, but the protestors as shown on Orielly, IMO, came across as an unruly, disruptive force of large proportions.
Says the IHateCaliforniaBot.......
Illinois. He has every reason to be angry, poor thing.

The schools are jam-packed with this slime infecting the minds of children.
No wonder more and more responsible parents are homeschooling. The unions know what that means - once all the conservatives, religious blacks and hispanics yank their children out of the government schools, the whole system (government feeding trough for leftist losers) will come crashing down like a house of cards.
I think the unions and leftists on some level hope that all conservatives will pull their children out of public schools.
1. Everyone still has to pay taxes that fund the school system, regardless of whether your child attends or not. So funding is not affected.
2. All those trouble making parents who object to their children being indoctrinated into homosexual lifestyles, leftism, and such, will be out of their hair. They'll be free to further modify the curriculum in any way they choose, without objection.
3. many schools are already way overcrowded, if a significant portion of students opt out it will just create more room, with no loss of funding.
4. The vast majority of home schoolers are white and christian. Having them gone will allow continued access for the children of illegal aliens, without the complaints of underfunding, etc that are being raised now.
They ALWAYS inflate numbers. These folks couldn't tell the truth if their lives depended on it. Cheez.
ANSWER, another communist bunch of thugs. Argghhh.
I wonder what parents and students thought of this ridiculous display. I would have really been po'd had my son been graduating. Thugs.
