And so it turns out that the two most famous investigative reporters of all time were a pair of stenographers for an FBI hack who was ratting out President Nixon for passing him over as director.
That corrupt cop, Mark Felt, should be named co-winner of the 1973 Pulitzer Prize given to The Washington Post. For it appears Felt swiped the research for the Post's Watergate stories from FBI files, while Woodward did rewrite and Bernstein was on the coffee-and-Danish run.

Best thing written about this whole sordid saga...

Now this is funny.
It is also good satire because it is partly true. Even journalist who worship the dynamic duo of Woodward and Bernstein confirm that Bernstein was not a good writer, he wasn't even a fair writer. Woodward did all the heavy embellishing and fairy tail writing. They snicker behind Bernstein's back today because he hasn't written a decent piece in 25 years.
"Hey Pat, get a clue. Felt told the truth. You should try it sometime."
So did Linda Tripp.
rhymeandreason hasn't created an about page.

Your hypocrisy is appalling.
Unlike Felt, Pat Buchanan has never been convicted of a Felony.
Unlike Felt, Pat Buchanan has never received a Presidential pardon for his crimes.
So, as long as you bring down a Republican it is OK to break your sworn duty as an officer of the Law?
Another troll pops its head up just in time for the John Deere Mower to whack it.

We seldom agree with PB. However he is right on target with this oped.
I heard once, not sure where it was now, that he was about toi be fired from the post. Watergate literally saved his job.
Wednesday night, sipping a Chalk Hill
BTW...what is a "chalk hill"?
Here's another one.
Woodward has had a Senior Executive Editor plumb job for years. Other reporters are very jealous of him, because he pulls in millions in salary while he disappears for months at a time to write his books, all of which sell. Then, the Post leaks advance stories of the book prior to Woodward;s publisher releasing them. Talk about an incestuous relationship.
"The democratic will of the people was thwarted by this takeover and that was the greater crime. Nixon should have finished his term, for which the American people elected him, and then tried by the Judicial system."
You just summarized the biggest crime of Watergate. How millions of us lost our votes thanks to the lies and spins from the Compost, Felt, Woodward and the red diaper baby, Bernstein.
CBS/Blather/Mapes tried to do the same with GW this last October. Thanks to Free Republic, Buckhead, Howlin, and other Freepers, they lost that war in hours.
The elite left wing Mediots and the Rat party will lose much more before this long hot summer is over since the Felts exposed Grampa Felt.
Yep another electronic brown shirted troll loses its head while defending Felt and W&B.
I am looking forward to the round of redux books from the likes of Buchanan, Colson, Liddy, and others who were with Nixon. Come to think of it, I would like to hear from Howard Baker, too, and hear if they have any new thoughts, but they probably will have to wait for the others' reconsiderations before they can really comment with authority.

Yeah I saw that earlier, just couldn't resist SkyPilot.
I predicted that there will be many books and opeds coming out from all of the so called new info.
Any writer who wants to cash in on this new tidal wave should be monitoring Free Republic threads on this fiasco for the left wing, 24/7.
Who knows, maybe our own Richard Poe is doing that as these threads and replies bring in the new data or old data to be looked under the microscope.
Just for you and others of like mind:
"And so the great mystery, "Who was Deep Throat?" reaches its anticlimax. He turns out to be a toady who oversaw black bag jobs for J. Edgar, violated his oath and, out of malice and spite, leaked the fruits of an honest FBI investigation to the nest of Nixon-haters over on 15th Street, then lied about it for 30 years.
"Why did Felt lie? Because Felt knew he had disgraced himself and dishonored everything an FBI agent should stand for. He didn't want his old comrades to know what a snake he had been. Linda Tripp, savaged by the same press lionizing Felt, at least had the moral courage to go public and take the heat when she blew the whistle on Bill Clinton. ...
"Not one miscreancy committed by Nixon's men did not have its antecedent in the White Houses of JFK or LBJ. But they got away with it, including the distribution to the press of dirt on Dr. King, picked up by secret FBI photo and wiretap. What Segretti dirty trick remotely approaches that one, which the liberal press covered up? ... "
