A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Yes, FRiends, it's another Finest "Play Day"!
We should be visiting another state today, but the 'Finest Tour Bus' is in the shop for repairs (again!). So, we will be staying home and having a play day instead. For those of you who have your heart set on traveling, you are welcome to re-visit any or all of our Finest states below..... :-)
...the rest of us will stay here and
Being 8 Years Old Again
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.
- I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
- I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
- I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
- I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
- I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
- I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
- I want to believe that anything is possible.
- I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
- I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
- I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, 'cause...
"Tag! You're it!"
And have a wonderful Wednesday!

When I first did it, I really didn't even notice a color. I realized that what I was doing couldn't possibly be right, but it wasn't until near the end that it finally dawned on me what was going on. Second time through, it wasn't that dicey, but I probably would have done considerably worse if allowed only 3 or 2.5 seconds.

Thanks for the cute verse. You're welcome.
I appreciate you coming by and spending some time with us today. :-)

well, hi there.. wow.. glad to see you here gracing our playful thread..actually your daughter might enjoy it as we are supposed to be playing like we were 8!!! You know after the 4 day Memorial weekned threads & then Military Monday, I was VERY ready for "silly". I am a firm supporter of our military but when I spend too much time reading of our wounded, dead etc.. It does get me down. I must be honest. I just scanned ATRW.. interesting ideas floated around.. will post there later perhaps. I am afraid most of my thoughts are just that.. so many there have much strong backgrounds historically with the intricacies of various events. I am 180 degrees from one vocal poster & will not respond for mental health reasons..lol..
Actually I am covered with dirt & have a big smile on my face because I spent the afternoon in my yard in the dirt..weeding, planting bulbs, moving things around. BTW how is weather in your corner of FR? Didn't quite make 70 today.. delightful & sunny

How is it up there?Chilly, overcast and threatening rain. Like a New England summer. I love Maine in the summer. It's nearly always cool and damp.

Red is my favorite color. Most of my cars have been red, I wear it quite a bit & decorate with it. At mom's place here things are not "me".. maybe again someday.
You did look smashing in that dress.. well, you looked great period. Lovely lady!
I still haven't washed my hands.. I wonder why I go thru so many keyboards. Between eating, drinking at computer & then immediately running in from outside & logging on.. If I were my kid, I would spank her! (did that make sense?)
Funny thing, I forgot I had a dinner date tonight.. I am out planting the bulbs in the two side areas of the apron of the driveway & up the road comes a familiar looking car.. talk about embarrassed. He was nice about it & had some shopping to do in the area so it wasn't a wasted trip. Well, he said he had shopping to do when I suggested he help me & we could order pizza later..lol...
I really couldn't get all fixed up that quickly. (and really didn't want to!)... just a good friend from MANY years back.

I finally *looked* at it a little differently and scored 100%!Billie, that sentence is a sermon. So often when we are in a situation where we can see no way out, we need to get still and look at the situation a little differently and we will see the way out. That is what the Holy Spirit does for us. Let's us see things differently.

Okay...Couldn't stand it and took "the test". First time 38%...second time 68%. (but my blood pressure has just gone up about 20% LOL!)
You all are having too much fun. Alas, must get back to work on tomorrow. Love you all!
To: Billie
I use burgundy in my informal living room, along with dark blue and some greens. In the formal living room I went for blue checks, which was a drastic departure for me. I have nearly always gone for earth colors. I love yellow and green, and add in some orange and red in the fall.

okay re: test (geeeze.. I wasn't even sure anyone would go there, yet alone try it!!)..
I took it first time & got zero with the 'insulting message'..
Well, trying again I then decided to make the opposite of what I thought was the right answer & got 100.
no kidding.
It came via email but was also around about 6 months ago & I recall bookmarking it..
frustrating little bugger.
for anyone continually getting zero try my "reverse" answer idea
need to wash up & cook (and not come back til food is done because I am down to only 5 pans!) When I moved here mom & I had lots of pans between us. Farberware etc..

Weather has been lovely. I've been a bit hot under the collar since hearing the Old Media Fraudcasters lionizing, or attempting to, MF. Fortunately, I think they're on the run a bit on this subject, too.
I know how the wounded, etc, can be difficult. Listening to Sean Hannity this afternoon - a mom called in - 26yo son died in Iraq - she brought big tears down my face with her pride and acceptance that her son did the right thing. Sean is incredibly passionate about helping the children of our dead soldiers, and his Freedom Concert is tremendous. Ted Nugent was also on the air talking to her, too. They are sponsoring her coming to the concert now, of course.
We owe all of these men more than we can ever repay - whether they return whole, partly, or don't return at all.
You've got me wondering whether I'm the "180 degree" person somehow... but I don't think so... a bit of paranoia?

Where do they hold that concert? I think it's a fantastic thing that Sean is doing. My best friend's son is in the thick of the fightiing over in Iraq. We are very concerned of course for his safety.

First time 38%...second time 68%. (but my blood pressure has just gone up about 20% LOL!) LOL. Some people seem to have an easier time with it than others. JK took the test when he got home and got 100% the first time. What a big show-off. LOL!
I am going to say good night to everyone soon, so you can post your JH2 thread. :-)
To: DollyCali
Didn't see how... lol..
I just had to give our year-old cat a "time-out" in the bathroom for excessive chewing on his 10wk old sister, and making her cry
