A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Yes, FRiends, it's another Finest "Play Day"!
We should be visiting another state today, but the 'Finest Tour Bus' is in the shop for repairs (again!). So, we will be staying home and having a play day instead. For those of you who have your heart set on traveling, you are welcome to re-visit any or all of our Finest states below..... :-)
...the rest of us will stay here and
Being 8 Years Old Again
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.
- I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
- I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
- I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
- I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
- I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
- I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
- I want to believe that anything is possible.
- I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
- I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
- I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, 'cause...
"Tag! You're it!"
And have a wonderful Wednesday!

Have left frozen pizza in over 3 hours. You can imagine how "interesting" that was.LOL
Please Dolly, don't burn your house down. I've scorched a few pans myself.

The ready reckoner was the book that a lot of shop keepers use to calculate the total cost of an order before the days of tills (cash registers) that added up.
It was like the times table but in a money format.

Clean ups for that kind of disater is all goes into garbage. Pans are too far gone & require much more time than feasible to get them usable again. Going back outside. Have done some inside domestic goddess items..

Dolly, that is called a "tub". It was called that before indoor bathtubs were invented. LOL. That is the kind of tub I bathed in when I was a kid. Usually it would sit behind the wood stove in the kitchen in the winter, so you didn't freeze to death as you bathed. Then in the summer time it could be on the back porch or even in the yard and that was much more fun. Life was pretty primitive.

Hi Nan. It's cold - 59 degrees. Never seen anything like it this time of year.
How is it up there?
To: Socratic
I have added your nephew to my prayer list, too, Socratic. Please let him know how very much we appreciate him, and that he will be in all our prayers to return home safely.

('04? Hadn't seen it before!) It's been uploaded to domania for quite awhile, but I don't know that I have ever used it before. I think I forgot it was there.
