A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Yes, FRiends, it's another Finest "Play Day"!
We should be visiting another state today, but the 'Finest Tour Bus' is in the shop for repairs (again!). So, we will be staying home and having a play day instead. For those of you who have your heart set on traveling, you are welcome to re-visit any or all of our Finest states below..... :-)
...the rest of us will stay here and
Being 8 Years Old Again
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.
- I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
- I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
- I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
- I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
- I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
- I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
- I want to believe that anything is possible.
- I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
- I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
- I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, 'cause...
"Tag! You're it!"
And have a wonderful Wednesday!

In that case I will bring the recipe for Cheeselets with me
Cheeselets
These crispy cheese biscuits are irresistible, and will disappear in moments. Try using different cheeses sprinkled with a variety of seeds to give alternative flavors. Makes about 80.
115g/4 oz/1 Cup Plain Flour
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon Dry Mustard
115g/4 oz/ 1/2 Cup Butter
50g/4 oz/ 1/2 Cup Cheddar Cheese, Grated
50g/4 oz/ 1/2 Cup Gruyere Cheese, Grated
1 Egg White, Beaten
15g/1 Tablespoon Sesame Seeds
Preheat over to 220ºC/425ºF/Gas 7. Line several baking sheets with non-stick baking paper. Sift the flour, salt, cayenne pepper, and mustard into a mixing bowl. Cut the butter into pieces and rub into the flour mixture until it begins to cling together.
Divide the mixture in half, add the Cheddar to one half and the Gruyere to the other. Using a fork, work each mixture into a soft dough and knead on a floured surface until smooth.
Roll out both pieces of dough very thinly and cut into 2.5cm/1" squares. Transfer to the lined baking sheets. Brush the squares with beaten egg white, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in the over for 5-6 minutes or until slightly puffed up and pale golden in color. Cool on baking sheets, then carefully remove with a palette knife. Repeat the process until you have used up all the biscuit dough. Pack into tins or boxes and tie with ribbon.

Yes, I've seen them Pip. I love it that we have FR members from around the world. I pray that we add more and more of them as time goes by. Then we will be a great force for understanding between peoples of different cultures. We could be a force for peace.

"In Napoli where love is king
When boy meets girl here's what they sing)
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing Vita bella
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella
When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fagiole
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That's amore
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing Vita bella
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella
Lucky fella
When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fagiole
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli

When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet

Pippin a word of encouragement regarding your holiday. I was in London today and I was wearing a tee shirt with Washington DC on it that Phancy had sent me. I do not get one adverse comment about it, I know the UK is not Canada but in London we have quite a mix of people so I should not worry too much about people trying to pick an argument with you. I think they will only do so if you mention something controversial.

Okay snugs, I'm ready to play. I lived in the country in the South when I was 8. I played outside all over my grandfather's farm with my brother. I was what we call a "Tomboy". I enjoyed doing the boy things more than dolls.

One of my favorite things to do was making mud puddles after a summer rain. You find a spot where water is standing, take off your shoes and go round and round and round until you have a smooth muddy, squishy mudhole. It felt so good to the feet.

You saying that reminds me a friend daughter who is very pretty but whilst we were out walking near the local deer park she suddenly disappeared and the next thing we knew she was hanging off a branch of a tree.
The punchline to this story is that this tomboy (we use the same expression in the UK) was actually about 20 at the time LOL
Here is a picture of her, hard to imagine that she is a tomboy
When I was 8 my parents owned a fish and chip shop and I used to love to sit in the preparation room whilst my mum cut the fish and "read stories" from the ready reckoner (did you used to have them in the States?)

snugs is right Pippin. Canada has many supporters of the USA. We hear about the negative becasue the lousy MSM does the reporting. FRee Dominion is a site for Canada like FR is for us. Why don't you register there & see if you can find some friends to get together with.. or at least get a feel for your concerns. I was there about a year ago a few times & met some neat folks.. email etc. Lost addy's when my hard drive needed reformatting & I also changed email addys.

our home is multilevel. I moved the computer 'operation" to the living room from my bedroom...one flight down. The kitchen is in next room but I have blocked the door with a large storage unit & so must go around several halls to get to it. By the time I smell "something" it is WAY to late. My computer operation would take up the whole kitchen. Maybe someday I will have a good laptop that I can FReep with while I cook. Normally when I am REALLY cooking, I have all four burners, crock pots etc going & need to be there to keep everything going.- no time to be posting etc. I get into trouble when I am warming something up, making tea etc..Have left frozen pizza in over 3 hours. You can imagine how "interesting" that was.
