Today, May 26, 2005, the American public and people all over the world witnessed a spectacle on the floor of the US Senate. A US Senator from Ohio, Senator Voinovich, broke down on the floor of the Senate and cried as he expressed his opposition to President Bush's nomination for UN Ambassador, John Bolton. In his impassioned and (apparently) sincere plea, he cried and told America and the world how he was unwilling to "risk" our representation at the UN to Mr. Bolton, and how he, Senator Voinovich feared for his children and grandchildren.
Apparently in considering Mr. Bolton, Senator Voinovich was not present at the confirmation hearings where Bolton testafied and has not met with Mr. Bolton. This alone makes one suspicious of the true nature of today's spectacle.
But, a grandfather fearing for his children and grandchildren is not something to take lightly or cavalierly dismiss. As the father of five children, and the grandfather of three grandchildren with a fourth on the way, I know this to be true. So, I wanted, grandfather to grandfather...father to father...to respond to Senator Voinovich.
I understand his feelings. I too fear for my children and grandchildren.
But I do not fear having a man such as John Bolton as our Ambassador...I fear NOT having a man such as Mr. Bolton as our Ambassador to the UN.

Ried and Hatch, from where I sit, are doing the political thing. The "go along top get along", thing. Sadly, they either have lost site of, or do not see, that those that they are "going along" with are on a path that leads this nation straight to hell.
IMHO, if she is ever placed in such a position, she will wield that power to accomplish her true marxist agenda and probably cause a civil war in this nation.
Thanks, Jeff. And spot on.
"Something is wrong alright...but I believe Voinovitch knew exactly what he was doing."
That's the scary part. The very wording included in his sobs, just don't add up. He has been bought out. Else he for some strange reason has been injecting himself with Estrogen.
Who knows.
"I agree with Marine_Uncle. For this man to cry over Bolton going to the UN is weird. Not attending the Bolton hearings and the stunt he pulled after that shows there is more wrong with Voinovitch than John Bolton. I think his family needs to get him to a Neurologist soon. Seriously, I believe this man is sick."
Or as I suggested to Jeff_Head, perhaps he is on female hormone treatment. And this guy is getting how much a year in salary and perks.
Ah, there's the "Sopranos" connection! "Waste Technologies Industries"...
In any case, whatever the motivation, we need to stand up oursleves and oppose it and let him and other Senators know.
OK It's not the mob...what is it? It's not the Serbian thing either.
He was mildly against the bombing of innocent civilians when war criminal Clinton decided to bomb innocent Serbians during the Easter holidays. Bolton condemned that.
What makes Voinovich do these bizarre things?
I am afraid, very afraid for my grandchildren today in our school systems. One, age 9 is in private Christian school in Raleigh, North Carolina, the other is 3 1/2 years and in montessouri daycare, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
Two great-grands are the children of one of my two grown grandchildren, both of whom live in Houston. Two great-grand children 11 and 13, that are in public school in Houston; and their dad is a computer tech (self employed).
The other grown grandchild is a teacher of kindergarden, and has the children/students of NASA parents: Married to a professor at Alvin Community College. No children yet.
Nearly 'all issues' today are a threat to everything that made America 'great'. All of which are impacting the young of our nation daily. Living in west Texas means not having the opportunity to be involved with their daily lives. This world is a dangerous place and our very way of life is in peril. Already changed in so many areas.
The judges, the senators, etc., have become enemies of the many and advocates for the small minority. Tyranny. Power is ugly in the leaders from the liberal side of the aisle. Lieing, cheating, stealing, blackmailing, falsely representing, ... power ... power ... power... and getting away with it. God help us.
Voinovich is an embarassment, an outright joke. He makes me embarassed that I am a Republican. We are fighting a war on terror and he's whimpering over the Bolton nomination? Pathetic. democrats must be laughing in the senate offices at his pathtic display.
Voinovich is a castrato.
He keeps them in his wifes purse.
I am convinced that He shall...but also convinced that there will be a very tough row to hoe in the mean time. As you say, the culture built up by the liberal/marxists and abetted by the big government, "more compassionate" RINOs is an enemy to what our founders fought, bled and died to create, and to what millions of oithers have fought to preserve.
Practices like abortion, so called rights for the perverted to raise children and have their unholy unions called good, the government school system and the abominiations it "teaches" our children (like teaching Jr. High and younger children about all manner of perverted sex and how to prtect themselves when conducting it), the ability for doctors and government social workers to counsel and direct minor children toawards hideous life choices without the knowledge or consent of their parents, the welfare state where hard earned salaries are pilfered at the point of a gun for those unwilling to work in many cases, the abject infringement on 2nd amendmentrights to bear arms, and the list goes on and on...tear at the very fabric and foundation of what this nation was founded upon.
After reading dozens of books, histories, compilations, and documents about those men, I am convinced that if the caliber of men who founded this nation were alive today, they would fight these practices tooth and nail...they would not have tolerated them amongst themselves (no amount of compromise, no amount of diplomacy, no amount of diverse thinking would have been brooked on such issues)...they would either have already put down this sort of evil nonsense, or those men would already be dead.
Bttt.
We must stand resolutely and fight this war here, while our brave soldiers fight the external enemy elsewhere.

See my posts 134 and 136 as well.
Thanks for asking. I have turned the corner, have been back at work full time for 4 weeks and am feeling very well thank you. Again, thanks for asking and God's best to you and yours.
One of Rush's callers pegged Georgy girl perfectly. One could understand him crying on the Senate floor about 9/11 victims or fallen military personnel in Iraq or Afghanistan, but cry about the Bolton nomination? Good grief!
