GEORGE BUSH MAY GO DOWN AS THE WORST PREZ IN HISTORY
or
WHY IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A REPUBLICAN TODAY

President George Bush has not distinguished himself by fighting for his judicial nominees. Indeed, the way he treated Miguel Estrada, he is arguably worse than the Democrats in the Senate.

Now seven Senators have made a deal to run the Senate, and they claim that it would be best for the President to get in his Presidential Yugo and drive down to the Senate Building carrying his hat in his hand to get his judicial nominees pre-approved.

If President George Bush accedes to this power grab, he will go down as the worst President in history.

The United States Senate gave up its legislative power to the federal courts; now the Senate proposes to usurp Presidential powers. Where is our Constitutional Republic in all this?

Previous Presidents have called Senators over to the White House and 'jawboned' them with political goodies to get them to support their agenda. George Bush, instead, called Ted Kennedy over to the White House and allowed him to write the Education Bill. Kennedy responded by saying that Bush had woefully underfunded education, and iced it by calling the President a murderer and a war criminal. Bush does not jawbone Olympia Snowe or Lincoln Chaffee; instead, he closes military bases in Trent Lott's Senatorial District.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A REPUBLICAN TODAY

It is impossible to be a Republican today because as a voter you send representatives to Washington who BETRAY you repeatedly. Even when the majority of the country votes for Republicans and traditional values, 'Republicans' tell us that it is important to let the minority rule the country, and traditional values are trashed.

I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN

Well, I used to be a Republican. I have been betrayed so many times I have lost count. The Republican Party of Florida re-districted me out of the Congressional District in West Orlando [where I live] and placed me in WEST JACKSONVILLE - nearly 100 miles away. There are three Congressional Districts in West Orlando, but I am assigned to West Jacksonville... a district so gerrymandered that some portions are only as wide as the center line in the middle of the highway.

There is no good reason for me to be a Republican; there is no good reason for me to vote any longer. All my votes, all my campaigning for traditional values, all my fighting against the Democratic oligarchy siezing power in this country has resulted in my own people disenfranchising me by gerrymandering me out of representation in Washington [Well, true, I have Bill Nelson... I remember Bill Nelson: about 1983 he said on local radio that Christians should not be allowed to vote since they are incapable of thinking for themselves, that they must be told how to think.]

Yep - that is what all my voting for 40 years has netted me.

If I voted for Joseph Stalin, at least I would get exactly what I expected. At least if the Democraps win, we know they will finalize the overthrow of the Constitution and set up their socialist tyrannical dictatorship. If that does not motivate Americans to do what is necessary to re-establish freedom, then what have I been fighting for anyway?

Why don't you exercise some personal responsibility and move to another district. Jeb Bush's masterpiece of Gerrymandering has been okayed by the courts and Justice Dept.

One: President George Bush has not distinguished himself by fighting for his judicial nominees.

GW Bush submitted all the nominees he could (some had quit) a second time after they had been filibustered...He encouraged and continues to encourage the Senate to give an up or dorn vote to ALL nominees

Two: The United States Senate gave up its legislative power to the federal courts; now the Senate proposes to usurp Presidential powers.

Neither the Republican Party , GW Bush or most of the Senators had anything to do with the agreement formed by McCain and his Merry Band

Three: Previous Presidents have called Senators over to the White House and 'jawboned' them with political goodies to get them to support their agenda.

In all probability Bush had the votes he needed to go "Nuclear"

I'm sure glad you took the time to post all of that! I saved it too! I don't think some people on here know about all of that. Or if they did, they've forgotten it. So many times our President's accomplishments get buried under rhetoric from both sides of the ideological divide. Now I realize that we are a nation of human beings. And a goverment of imperfect human beings will not be perfect!

But after reading your list, I realize how so much of it is conservative to me! Or at least I thought it was a conservative list. I always thought that much of the items on the list were desired by most, if not all conservatives on here, but I guess not. At least the way some posters on here talk!

By reading a lot of the posters on here tonight; I realize by the ugly comments by some of them, it seems GWB/his supporters, are not conservatives at all! Or we are not 'real', or 'pure' conservatives, like they are! Somehow we are otherwise: weak, stupid, brainless, immature, unprincipled, bad people, because we support him! Why heck, apparently, we aren't even considered to be his "base", like they are!

Now most posters on this thread don't think this way. But It seems like lately, there is a whole new chorus on here, that's always angry, and bashing GWB, and and those who support him! Where were these people when we were fighting hard to get him in office, and to get him in there again late last year? It's strange, but a lot of them were nowhere in sight!

Now, all of a sudden, they're are here, and insulting him, and other Freepers! When people in the news, and in the opposite party, were lying and talking dirty about him and Mr. Cheney, and other Republicans, where were these posters? I wonder? Probably off pouting, and sulking somewhere, because we don't go along with them, and those candidates they support!

When I read your list, I was struck by all of the things GWB and others, yes even some Democrats(those with a conscience that is), were able to get done! If he was such a miserable failure, how is it that he not only got in again, but with a bigger vote margin than before?

If he is such a terrible leader, how is it that 'real liberals' are always howling about what a religious extremist, warmonger, far right, evil, stupid, (well you get the picture!)man he is, etc..? If he/us are not 'real' conservatives, what is a 'real' conservative? If these angry posters are examples of 'real' conservatives, I don't know if I want to be a 'real' conservative!

If he was so careless about the border, and our security, how is it that the hispanic human rights groups are always harping about how our Pres. treats the immigrants, legal or illegal? How is it that VF is now saying that he's going to complain to the international groups like the UN, or ICC, about how we are treating the immigrants? Man, that doesn't sound like he's much of a 'bosom buddy' of our Pres., is he?

Well, how I run on! Anyway, thanks for posting it. At least a lot of us appreciate being reminded of our/GWB's accomplishments. I'd heard of a lot of them before; but they get buried under all the sour grapes, and other belly-aching that seems to be all over the place on this web-site lately!

My compliments to you and all of the voices of reason, who answer the angry ones with good arguments, that I can't always come up with! I also appreciate those who even if they don't support him, or agree with GWB/Republicans on all things, they are still capable of discussing these in a basically decent, polite, and respectful way!

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

If you don't see the end of the Republic, you are willfully blind.

The initial salvo was that Bush is the "worst president in history" and it is now "impossible to be a Republican."

If you're going to chastise the over-the-top responses, you should not minimize the ridiculously over-the-top premise they were responding to.

Since you didn't respond to the ACTUAL title, but rather to one that you made up yourself, you are the one who is over the top.

He said MAY and proceeded to say why. And he's not wrong at all.

"Worst in History", however, just shoots down any and all credibility with me.

May MAY MAY

MAY go down as the worst prez in history.

Even if Bush was perfect, the above statement is true. In this case, Bush has done a lot wrong and failed to do a lot that we believed that he could have. From that perspective, the about statement is very true and potentially very accurate in its prediction.

"The problem you have is you do not engage in hero worship and blind approval as do so many on here especially those who are the first to scream for a zot. Not a one of them can refute anything you stated. All they can do is ridicule. The equivalent of the "R" word the lefties use so often. Just today Bush made the claim that adding the full two thousand authorized border patrol agents would be too much of a strain on the border patrol. What kind of bizarre thinking is that? What the hell is going on? We have guys dying to secure the Syrian/Iraq border but we don't give a damn about ours?"

Great observation.

I Agree. Strange so many are compelled to personally attack the guy that wrote this, instead of addressing what he said.

Thanks for saying that. It is so much easier to ridicule than to carry on a debate on what was said. I don't recall a single rebuttal, only attacks.

There have been very few surprises on who has attacked him. It's mostly newbies trying to be cute and gain favor with the usual suspects. It's further evidence to me that Bob is right.

However, I do believe that the U.S. Senate right now is one of the biggest collection of criminals and spinless idiots that there has ever been.

No argument on that score! And I dont agree with the "worst prez", either..

But I would not call him the worst president (that "honor" goes to Klintoon and Karter)

I voted for him once and against Kerry the 2nd time. I am not pleased with Bush at all on the domestic front. Had Clinton tried to do many of the things that Bush signed onto, he'd have been tarred and feathered -- for trying. Bush does them and we defend him.

Clinton may likely be the worst man ever to be president, but we did get him to sign 7 of the 10 items in the CWA. We did realize that he was an enemy and we were always on guard against him. Gun ownership went up dramatically.

Bush came on duty and many people went to sleep. Now we have The PATRIOT Act, CFR, the Kennedy Education bill, higher (non-defense) spending since LBJ, part one of Hillary care with the Greedy Geezer Drug Benefit bill, etc, etc, etc.

Judging on what was accomplished or destroyed Bush isn't looking good.

Ross Perot was a shill for Clinton. When Dole's numbers fell, Perot wasn't needed and dropped out. When there was a sudden resurgence, he came back in and finished Dole off.

Bush the Elder certainly contributed to his own demise, but the Perot candidacy was what polished him off and buried him..

Thanks for not responding in kind and jumping with both feet. After I posted I saw a few other comments and realized that we really weren't at odds.

You are right that Bush has done some good things, but his negatives really outweight them for me.

The border, CFR, PATRIOT Act(s), prescription drug plan, etc will do more to destroy the Republic than the good that he has done will preserve it.

Nice rant. Meaningless, but nice.

Do you remember when Israel gave the PLO 95% of what they wanted? The PLO should have taken it and run but they didn't. Israel was villified as if they sent in troops and raped every Palestinian woman.

That's the way the left operates. It doesn't matter how much you give, they want more. Kennedy wrote that education bill and he bitched that Bush didn't do enough anyway. Do you see what I am getting at? It doesn't mean that you are doing right just because the left bitches about it. What they (the left) know is that the more vocal they are, the more they get from us.

They didn't compromise because they were winning. They compromised because they knew they were going to lose the filibuster fight, but that didn't change their lying rhetoric, did it? Reid ran another commercial just after the agreement was announced still condemning the GOP and lying about history.

Just don't confuse their screaming about what we do with whether what we did was right. Okay?
