DR. DEAN: I said I wasn't sure, but I said I thought there probably were. But the thing that really bothered me the most, which the 9-11 Commission said also wasn't true, is the insinuation that the president continues to make to this day that Osama bin Laden had something to do with supporting terrorists that attacked the United States. That is false. The 9-11 Commission, chaired by a Republican, said it was false.

But he repeated it twice.
Do you think they would ever let Repubs get away with this, even if it was a mistake?
I kept waiting for Tim to correct him, or for him to correct himself, but he never did.

It's absolutely obvious that he meant Saddam. Then why did he say it twice? Then why didn't Russert the Potato correct him?

The commission he cited was referring to Saddam, of course. My question is whether Dean actually knows that. It's as true of politicians as of everyone else - every time you say "nobody's that stupid" somebody will prove you wrong.

Third parties are looking better and better all the time. A vote for a third party is a vote for a RAT.

After living through the Eugene McCarthy - George McGovern - New Left "Bring it all down, man" era I expected real trouble (and we got it) as the New Leftist aged and converted the traditional Democrat Party to the Rat Party.
What I did not expect was that a few of them would be comedians! I like it. Monty Python would be jealous.

"That is false." Well, d*mn, Howie. I'm sure glad you cleared that up. < /sarcasm >

If you read the context of the quote, I think Governor Dean meant to say, "Saddam Hussein" and instead accidentally said "Osama Bin Ladin."
Is it wrong to send people to war without telling them the truth. And the truth was Osama bin Laden was a very bad person who was doing terrible things, but that Iraq was never a threat to the United States.
While I disagree with Gov. Dean here (anyone who tries to kill our President, as Hussein did, and harbors terrorists, as Hussein did, is a threat to America), I think he probably just got his names mixed up.

Man, This guys is really off his rocker.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching him screw the pooch for the dems.
To: West Coast Conservative
Holy Cripes....in reading the transcripts, it seems Russert forced Dean to tap dance and change almost every answer/position Dean was questioned about.
Did the show show what I'm reading in the transcripts ?

You can bet the sound bite of Dean proclaiming bin Laden was NOT responsible for 9/11 will appear in quite a few campaign commercials in the months to come. Doesn't matter a wit whether he retracts or not. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
No one will ever convince me that Karl Rove didn't have a hand in getting this fool installed as DNC head.

He obviously mispoke. Let's not make a big deal out of this besides to poke fun. He also misspoke about the log in eye etc... and I think called it something else. It doesn't matter. I'd rather work on substance then bash people for simple mistakes.
More interestingly is his attempt to hide bernie sanders socialism in lexicon.
