I’ve been away for a while, doing a little thinking. Usually, my thoughts for these past few years have started at home and then taken me to Iraq, and the war. Lately, though, I have been thinking about Iraq, and my thoughts turn more and more to home.

I started thinking along these lines six months ago, after a young Marine shot and killed a wounded Iraqi in a mosque in Fallujah

The ideas behind this little adventure we are about to embark upon have changed enormously since then. I have, quite frankly, been at a loss to know how to put so many wide-ranging snapshots together into this montage, this image, this idea of Sanctuary that I think holds the key to many of the problems we face today.

Stay with me -- our first stop is not our destination, but it is a necessary one. So let me first take you on that original journey, and show you how events in Iraq can show us how to fight and win a much wider and deeper conflict, right here at home.

I read every word, All I can say is, awesome. Said so many many things I have been thinking but could not say nearly so well. I will look for more from Mr. Whittle.

This at the end is what I have been trying to get across to my kids recently....

And there I am: bitching and complaining and wondering why things are not better for me. Boo-freaking-hoo.

This is the poison that will eventually kill us all. I should spend an hour a day prostrate and thanking God I was born an American. How many struggle and die for this privilege?

Powerful stuff. It kept me up reading way past my bed time. I just couldn't stop.

It's too bad that most liberals that I know are either too lazy to read the entire thing, are too ignorant to understand it or would become indignant after the first few paragraphs and disregard the rest as VRWC propaganda.

I never read long articles. But I read this one. The whole thing.

I sometimes do read the long ones. I just depends on the subject and the quality of the writing. I just sat down at the computer for a few minutes to check this out and got drawn on and on right through to the end. I really, really like this man.

I'm wondering if you might consider placing a more permanent and visable link on this site somewhere. It's been posted 3 times on FR already and the comments on it have all been just like the ones on here.

There are many, many comments on FR and on Whittle's site saying it is the best thing they ever read - ever!

It should go in the Congressional Record and I'd like to post it every day next week here on FR.
