My dad passed away May 7, 2005, in a peaceful and easy way. I wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and well wishes. I had asked that your prayers be for a quick and easy peace for him and our prayers were answered. He didn't last as long as the doctors and hospice nurses expected, and as much of a shock as it was and as much as I miss him, it was a blessing for his sake.
I asked the funeral home for a US flag and military marker to honor his service to our country as part of honoring his life.

My heart goes out to you and your family. May God comfort and sustain you during this painful time.
I lost my mother in April 2003, and I well remember how shattering it was, even though I'd known the end was coming for some time. No matter how clearly we know intellectually that our parents will pass away, we don't know it emotionally until it happens.

My deepest condolences for your loss. God bless you and your family.

My heartfelt condolences. When my mother was dying and passed in January Freerepublic was of great help especially Ladydoc. There are many fine people here. If there is anything I can help with just pm me. I'm a little ahead of you in the grief process but still very actively going through it.

My dad passed on Dec 17, 2003. He wanted to be cremated and have his ashes spread at sea. When he was at the Pentagon, his project was the patrol gunboat hydrofoils. A current skipper for the current generation of hydrofoils lives right next to my sister in El Cajon. His crew was delighted to assist.
My condolences on the passing of your father.

The one redeeming thing about the passage of time is that it heals our wounds. I lost my beloved Father two years ago on Halloween, and even though I really appreciated all the kind words and support not only from my family but from the wonderful folks right here on FR, it was the passage of time that really allowed me to get over my tragedy.
I hope your pain eases soon for you.

My prayers for you and your family. The hurt of the loss won't go away quickly. Time will help you heal but he will always be missing in your life. May God bless your dad and everybody he touched.
