Sa far Ft Monmouth, NJ; Grotton, CT, Portsmouth Navy, Brunswick Navy and Ellsworth, SD.
Okay, maybe I will have that post pulled then seeing as the AP wrote it.
Logic isn't a strong point with them. lol
AND Vermont... Yes the socialist state gained something at the Burlington ANG Unit.. ! I can only guess they need to use it to watch Leahey, Sanders, Dean and the other saps up there.
Ahh - AWACS and BUFFs.....targets...
(former fighter mechanic)
Thanks
The civilian jobs are still government employees, and they won't be on my payroll anymore.
Oklahoma really didnt need any more big hits to the economy
LOL!!! Love it!
Because we are compassionate conservatives we try to kill the terrorists that the liberals try to represent in court ...
It's odd to me, as an outsider, that you would endanger the lives of liberals and conservatives alike in the NE because of the way the averages worked out. Look at the numbers: some states were split nearly 50/50 on the votes. The communities who will be punished will not be those near the bases. The closest base to Boston is Hanscom, I believe, and that's staying open in very liberal Concord/Lexington. The bases that are closing are in the more rural, more conservative areas. You mean to tell me that a bunch of liberals are going to change the way they vote because a bunch of people they don't care about are suddenly negatively impacted? The punishment is being meted out to the wrong groups.
I don't endanger anyone's life in NE. I really can't help it that they are so hapless to vote the way they do. NE has seen a gradual decline into shame over the last Two Centuries. Nonetheless, we don't really need those bases in NE to protect NE from terrorists. There are better locations to base our military to fight wars. We are drawing down in Germany too.
And remember, the next time a terrorist hits the northeast and kills a lot of people...you're going to have to clean it up if they don't have the resources...unless the good thing to do is let people suffer. I'm not sure what to expect from you all. It ranges from Christian to vitriolic hate in a few posts.
It would be nice if most of the Senators from the NE supported the War on Terror instead of the War on Bush and People of Faith ...
Liberalism is a Mental Disorder.
Lawton is really going to grow!
But, since Daschle isn't there, people will say it wouldn't have been closed if he'd been reelected.
I'd love to see an objective analysis of these base closings provide some convincing evidence that politics plays little or no part in it. But, at least since Rumsfeld's change of heart came to light a week ago, I'm not holding my breath.
?
LOL! We have the Navy E-6's here as well with two TACAMO squadrons!
Ellsworth at its peak a triple threat base in the SAC era, Bombers, Missiles, Tankers, and Airborne Command Post. Population 10,000 plus, in 1979 when I arrived. Now down to around 4,000 with new facilities for almost everything including a base operations and ATC building not yet under construction, new housing, new BX and commissary, Headquarters building, engine test facility, fire station, etc etc etc. All that means the doors could be closed yesterday.
John Thune is sure to take tremendous heat for having beaten Ellsworth's only hope of remainging open. Tommy Two Tongues Daschle. An untruth of the first order, but nevertheless a real issue for repbublican haters. Hopefully I will have an opportunity next saturday evening to congratulate Senator Thune on his election to the Senate, and contribute to his next campaign at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner. Maybe I will be contributing to the closure by removing sone of the satellite systems that I now maintain.
You're probably right ... just reporting on how our gov't does doesn't work.
Prtsmouth Navy Shipyard is in Portsmoth NH (bordering Kittery ME), losing that will hurt the region.
A good friend of mine was an engineer there until about 5 months ago.
no WA installations so far.
Ellsworth AFB just outside Rapid City, SD. Base for B1-B bombers (used to have missles). This will really hurt Rapid City and western SD.
I am sure we will hear "This would never have happened if we had re-elected Senator Daschle!"
