State-sponsored incitement on rise as Cairo could control Israel borders
Egypt's state-run media the past few weeks has published a series of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel articles, and recently released a best-selling book claiming Jewish tradition requires the killing of gentiles, WND has learned.
The escalation in incitement comes in spite of ongoing negotiations regarding the possibility of Israel entrusting Cairo with control of security along the Israeli-Egypt border after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's Gaza withdrawal plan is implemented this summer.
An article April 18 in Egypt's government sponsored Al-Akhbar daily lamented "the bogus historical rights of Jews in Palestine," claiming the foundation of the state of Israel was based on "fabrications and lies that have their source in the Old Testament and in the Talmud [including] the lies of Israel and world Jewry about the number of Jews exterminated by Nazi Germany," according to a translation provided by Israel's Center for Special Studies.
An editorial in the same paper alleged, "Distorting facts and forging them are constant practice for the Jews, who have specialized in it throughout the ages of history!"
A series of articles last month in Al-Ahram al-Massai, also government-run, claimed the Jewish state was established to "turn [Israel] into the center of world Zionism for the implementation of the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion.'"
The "Protocols" is an anti-Semitic story that claims Jews run the world by proxy.
The al-Massai series, written by the paper's editor in chief, continues, "The world Jewry succeeded in instilling pangs of conscience and a guilt complex among the European peoples and nations, in order to perpetuate its extortion and exert pressure upon them so that they pay large sums of money to Israel and the Jews."
Egypt also recently released an Arabic translation of the "Protocols," which became a best-selling title, that stated, "According to [Jewish] religious law, you are allowed moreover, obligated to kill gentiles, even if they are good-doers or, to be more precise, could be good-doers."
In February, WND reported the Egyptian International Book Fair, considered the most important event in the Arab literary world, featured another "Protocols" version, published by Syria, that charged Jews use hot pokers to gouge Palestinian' eyes.
The book's forward, which was dedicated to Palestinian suicide bombers, said, "From our brothers [the Palestinians], I heard that the Jews perform the most barbaric acts on whomever they catch. ... Their stomachs had been opened and their kidneys, liver or heart had been removed and then they were sewed up again. Their eyes were burned out with red-hot iron pokers."
Sources said the updated Syrian "Protocols" was vetted by Egyptian authorities who monitor the content of the book fair and reportedly excluded materials considered problematic to the Egyptian regime.
Meanwhile, Israel has been debating the possibility of Egypt controlling the Philadelphi Route, the border area between Gaza and Sinai, after Sharon implements his plan to evacuate Jews from Gaza and parts of the West Bank this summer.
The Egyptians want to place at the Israeli-Egyptian border 3,500 troops fortified with vehicles, observation and listening posts and missile launchers, sources close to the negotiations told WND.
Israel and Egypt also discussed Cairo playing a larger role in Gaza, including establishment of joint Palestinian-Egyptian security patrols and Egyptian training for Palestinian forces.
But critics cite Egyptian media incitement and the country's failure to stop construction of Palestinian weapons-smuggling tunnels as proof the Egyptians can't be trusted.
Palestinians regularly use tunnels from Egypt to bordering Rafah to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip.
Since February, security sources report, there have been approximately 30 incidents of smuggling from Egypt's Sinai region, with weapons transported including approximately 1,000 rifles, dozens of RPG launchers, about 150 handguns, five anti-aircraft shoulder missiles and tens of thousands of bullets.
"The filthy lies published in Egypt's media just expose Egypt, which received billions in American aid, for what it is a supporter of terrorism and a distributor of vicious, dangerous anti-Israel propaganda," Mort Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, told WorldNetDaily.
"We see Egyptian violations of its peace treaty with Israel when it allows the Palestinians to build smuggling tunnels that run from Egypt to Israel. How is Ariel Sharon possibly going to let a country like this bring weapons and soldiers into Gaza?" said Klein.

I am not sure where I heard it but it was the most accurate thing I have heard ina while. "I don't hate Israel, I just hate Jews".
I support Israel for non-religous reasons (democracy, rule of law etc etc) and while I do not think Israel is one hundred precent right all of the time I believe if people actually got to see the facts in plain view they would understand the situation so much more. If you comapre the two sides it is obvious which one you would want to be on. Apart from Muslims I cannot see why any group of people would be pro-palestinian except through ignorance of hatred. I feel sorry for the innocents on both sides but the Palestinians just keep screwing up their chances and making things worse for themselves.
I am incredibly glad that I do not have to live under or next door to Muslim warlords.
Talk about projection...
Julius Streicher lives on.
I have a better idea. How about we take the foreign aid we send them and give it to, oh, domestic programs or Israel and tell the EU and UN to take over?
To me, this proves that at this time, Egypt is a direct arm of Satan.
Just think of regular Israelis being on the front lines of Islamic fanaticism all these years.
We must continue to support our troops brave efforts to uproot the Islamic terrorist machine in Iraq, Afghanistan and in other threatened nations confronted the international jihadist menace.
We could pour billions in every day and that particular element would simply utilize our taxpayer funds to further the goals of world-wide jihad.
Where is the Mubarak régime on that issue. (I already know :)
It's no coincidence.
Exactly right. But then again foreign nations using U.S. taxpayer dollars for reasons other than what they were intended isn't exactly news. Third-world dictators/terrorists have been lining their deep pockets with our money for decades.
It's long past time we ended all foreign aid in the form of U.S. taxpayer dollars.
