The Free Muslims Against Terrorism are proud to announce that on May 14, 2005, Muslims and Middle Easterners of all backgrounds will converge on our nation's Capital for a rally against terrorism and to support freedom and democracy in the Middle East and the Muslim world. This will be the first rally of its kind in Washington, D.C., that is led by Muslims and Middle Easterners.

Join us in sending a message to radical Muslims and supporters of terrorism that we reject them and that we will do all we can to defeat them.

We also want to send a message of hope to the people of the Muslim world and the Middle East who seek freedom, democracy and who reject radical Islam that we are with them and that we will do all we can to support them.

In my first post on this event I unfortunately credited the march to the wrong web site, freemuslim.org. The correct URL is http://www.freemuslims.org/march/ Due to this initial mistake, I stated some common opinions about Islam that freemuslimS have purposed to change. Their brave positions about the inacceptability of Islamic Terrorism and necessity of democracy in the Middle East are the response that the world has been hoping and expecting from Muslims. Their message needs to be amplified through our support. Please spread the word! Thank you freemuslimS! Their home page is http://www.freemuslims.org/

I am glad for them. Many Muslims I have spoken to will only condemn the extremists in private. However much I do not agree with their religion I am glad that some of them are willing to say no to violence.

I read about this on their website. Here are my predictions, the MSM won't cover it, there will be more people than appeared at the Million Mom March or for NOW and their annual abortion rights march.

That's very good news. I hope it will stop some of the murders of innocent people in Iraq, and help to spread freedom!

I am glad to hear that they are standing up. Silence out of fear of reprisal from the Islamofascists means tacit support for their actions.

If the millions (out of a billion) of Islamic radicals really are following a "false" relgion, then there is no problem in denouncing them. There are enough radicals and enough horrors to make such a response necessary.

Any reformation/purging of Islam will have to come from within, it will also mean opening themselves to retaliation from the Islamonazis. Some things ARE worth dying for.

I hope there will be a large turnout......But I suspect it will be the opposite. For alot of them I imagine "sticking your neck out" is like inviting a beheading.....literally!

Excellent News !

Any person or groups of people willing to work for the greater good of peace and security should be supported. The Petty differences of the various religion's doctrines are redundant in the face of true righteous action.

We are not born evil. The Creator wants us to live in peace and to create a literal Ganeden here on Planet Earth. With more prayer, vigilance and right action we may all merit to dance like carefree children in the streets of Jerusalem and all around the world.

Next step is to show them that Mohammed irrefutably and undeniably was a terrorist as well, and to denounce him too. Why anyone would believe the words (Koran) of such an un-holy madman is beyond me. Mohammed was a murderer, rapist, thief, pedophile, torturer, assassin, bigoted, racist and chauvinist pig.

He and his minions raped, pillaged, murdered, enslaved and conquered their way through the Middle East. His Jihad and subsequent massacres of Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians and anyone who wouldn’t convert by force, the brutal expansion by force into the holy land and Eastern Europe for 400 years which instigated the Crusades and the legacy of 1400 years of death, oppression and social stagnation all of which continue to define the middle east today.

Great role model this Mohammed huh? Religion of peace indeed. It amazes me how stupid, ignorant and gullible a billion people can be. This muslims against terrorists is a good start but sooner or later they will have to face up to the truth, that by denouncing terrorism, they are actually denouncing Mohammed and Islam as well. Why not just make the mental leap and openly express their denouncing of islam as they are in reality doing instead of pussyfooting around the truth.

Do you suppose they'll be throwing copies of the Koran into the porta-potties?

Riot over abuse of Koran

How could this be? Hollywood shows a much different scenario with their recent "Kingdom of Heaven" release ... are you saying that this is not the 'gospel' truth? How could this be!!!

Man I hope they have good security. These people are even worse to their own than to the infidel if they suspect any type of waivering from the hardline. Some Wahabists would love to set a big ol' bomb off right in the middle of them to show the will of Allah. I wonder if there will be profiling. I mean, can you imagine how hard that would be?

Yes, if you can't take what your god says literally, then the default is moral relativism where every body does what they think is right for themself. On the extreme is eventual anarchy and social devestation. These first steps to the truth are hard to let Muslims take without confronting them with full blown arguments about the big picture of Islam. Be patient and stand with them now because they're on the right path.

Because they aren't really denouncing anything -- they are simply practicing the art of Taqiyya.

Based on alot of responses here, I would say they are already successful, even w/out the march.

Have you even gone to their web site? This is what they say about terrorism:
"Our Positions
Terrorism
The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism believes that there can NEVER be a justification for terrorism."
That's not a denouncement?

Where were they 4 years ago when our citizens were attacked?

Why did we not hear these voices as innocent civilian contractors were being beheaded for all the world to see on Islamic hate sites?

Why are they not actively protesting the hate speech being preached in Mosques right here on our own soil?

I posted this on another thread. Bears repeating here:

Please define Moderate Muslim, then.

Is it one who renounces terrorism? Lovely. But what do they have to say about their scriptures that compel a "good" Muslim to murder, lie, rape, steal, fight jihad, condones slavery, etc all?

Hugh Fitzgerald had an interesting take:

Snip:

2. The word "moderate" cannot be reasonably applied to any Muslim who continues to deny the contents -- the real contents, not the sanitized or gussied-up contents -- of Qur'an, hadith, and sira. Whether that denial is based on ignorance, or based on embarrassment, or based on filial piety (and an unwillingness to wash dirty ideological laundry before the Infidels) is irrelevant. Any Muslim who, while seeming to deplore every aspect of Muslim aggression, based on clear textual sources in Qur'an and hadith, or on the example of Muhammad as depicted in the accepted sira -- Muhammad that "model" of behavior -- is again, objectively, acting in a way that simply misleads the Infidels. And any Muslim who helps to mislead Infidels about the true nature of Islam cannot be called a "moderate." That epithet is simply handed out a bit too quickly for sensible tastes.

3. What of a Muslim who says -- there are terrible things in the sira and hadith, and that we must find a way out, so that this belief-system can focus on the rituals of individual worship, and offer some sustenance as a simple faith for simple people? This would require admitting that a great many of Muhammad's reported acts must either be denied, or given some kind of figurative interpretation, or otherwise removed as part of his "model" life. As for the hadith, somehow one would have to say that Bukhari, and Muslim, and the other respected muhaddithin had not examined those isnad-chains with quite the right meticulousness, and that many of the hadith regarded as "authentic" must be reduced to the status of "inauthentic." And, following Goldziher, doubt would have to be cast on all of the hadith, as imaginative elaborations from the Qur'an, without any necessarily independent existence.

More @ http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/2004/11/004034print.html

I wish I could believe there are "moderate" Muslims -- but I don't buy it. For their entire 1350+ yr history, Muslims have been at war w/ everyone they come in contact with.

Islam has a history of lies and deceit. Talk is cheap.
