A new opinion poll by Zogby International indicates Americans are hardly pleased with the Bush administration on the subject of illegal immigration.

The poll, cited on CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight" program yesterday, noted a huge majority – 81 percent – believes local and state police should help federal authorities enforce laws against illegal immigration. Only 14 percent disagreed.

Voters were also asked, "Do you support or oppose the Bush administration's proposal to give millions of illegal aliens guest worker status and the opportunity to become citizens?" Only 35 percent gave their support, and 56 percent said no.

"A majority opposed illegal immigration," pollster John Zogby told CNN. "In fact, when you combine those two terms, 'illegal and immigration,' it really conjures up a considerable amount of negatives. And, in fact, we find that it's really across the board."

According to the report, the greatest opponents of illegal immigration are Democrats, African-Americans, women and people with household income below $75,000, those with the most to lose in the job market.

When it came to the status of the nation's borders, respondents were asked, "Do you agree or disagree that the federal government should deploy troops on the Mexican border as a temporary measure to control illegal immigration?" A clear majority – 53 percent – agree, while 40 percent disagree.

"The Minuteman program highlighted the fact that we need more tighter border security," Phil Kent of American Immigration Control Foundation told the network. "So I think these numbers again are good. It's a good civics lesson for the American people. It shows our elected leaders that we want action."

In summing up her report, CNN correspondent Lisa Sylvester noted, "So, while the public wants tougher borders, politicians are pushing to leave them open. A real disconnect."

Dobbs responded to that statement, saying: "The disconnect that you referred to, Lisa, between our elected officials and the people of this country is in no – on no other issue any more dramatic than on the issue of illegal immigration. The Zogby poll is just simply the most recent in a string of polls that show that the American people want their borders secure, they want immigration laws to be enforced, and to clean up what has become an atrocious mess on the part of our elected representatives serving better the interests of U.S. multinationals than the people who are working for a living in this country."

Within a week of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on the U.S., Zogby polled Americans on border security and immigration issues.

When asked whether the government was doing enough to control the border and screen those allowed into the country, 76 percent said the government was not doing enough.

Regarding future threats to the U.S., 72 percent of likely voters in 2001 said a dramatic increase in resources devoted to border control and enforcement of immigration laws would help reduce the chances of a terrorist attack in the future.

I listened to a Gonzalez interview last week with Sean Hannity and I was appalled. He clearly had no problem whatsoever with illegal migration to the USA. Whoever is running this show is clearly puppeteering Bush, Gonzalez, and who knows whom else. We have been sold down the Rio Grande.

So, which side of the issue are you on, the illegal alien workers' side or the American workers' side? If you're going to be criticizing American workers, then I'll have to assume that you're on the illegal alien workers' side.

"we should hire illegal aliens to build the fence"

Hire, no way!

When they are caught give them a year of hard labor building the fence before deportation and stipulate that they can never return to the US under any condition.

If you are caught working in Mexico without a permit you go to prison, then are deported and never allowed to return to Mexico.

You're forgetting one thing.

There has been a plan since the early 1990's to integrate the entire hemisphere economically, in infrastructure and socially. In other words dissolve borders and make the entire western hemisphere a giant "trade bloc" like the EU.

If you check out our universities, they have been theorizing and informing our government ways this can be done since the 90's.

If you check out some of the international organizations like the Summit of the Americas, the OAS, the Inter-American Development Bank and UNCTAD, you will see this is a very much planned outcome for the Americas.
US STATE Department again.

Western Hemispheric Integration
University of Iowa, not the New American as you would have everyone believe.

The 1994 Miami Summit of the Americas initiated the uniting of the southern and northern halves of the Americas
University of Florida

Industry Objectives for Hemispheric Integration
the Summit of the Americas provide nothing less than the comprehensive framework and organizing principles for the social, economic and political relations among the community of nations of the hemisphere in the XXI century. The FTAA is not just one more initiative among the 23 initiatives launched in the Summit of the Americas. It is the pillar, the foundation of the grand project of hemispheric integration contained in the Summit vision

"This will be Hillary's issue. She will run tough on immigration and the budget deficit. These two issues might be enough to let her sneak in. Of course, the MSM will ignore her positions on other social issues and instead beat the drums about illegal immigration, which this administration has unfortunately ignored."

I agree...Immigration, illegal or otherwise, will be the issue that puts the Dems back in power.

And, all of us as consumers benefit to some extent from those lower costs.

But none of us as citizens are benefitting. We have seen our schools, hospitals and infrastructure trashed. We are witnessing the wholesale transfer of American wealth to third world countries through remittances. We will see the social security system looted more disasterously than it is already through "totalization" with Mexico.

We have seen our culture denigrated and our values mocked.

No person is one hundred percent consumer. People are citizens and human beings too. But not in the eyes of the "free trade" economists and global elites who see human beings as things to be manipulated for profit, or encouraged to die if the population becomes to large in their eyes.

May I make like Paul Harvey and tell the rest of the story:

"One day Lance missed his freedom and good paying union job. Kissing a sleeping Natalie, while leaving a goodbye note on the dresser, he quietly left town.
Natalie was upset till she saw a middle aged Freeper across the street, mowing his lawn with his shirt off. Her eyes feasted on his manly hairy chest, ignoring the beer belly that half hid his NRA belt buckle. Rivelets of sweat coursed down his sides, leaving tracks across his "Boycott Jane Fonda, Traitor B#tch" tattoos. That afternoon, after she had come to know the middle aged, balding Freeper, she called in and quit her job. Months passed as her bliss and joy grew. But alas, all was not well. The Freeper grew weary of selling off his gun collection so he could buy the increasing amount of Viagra it took to please her. "Damn he thought, this cop pension don't cover all the stuff it takes to please this woman". Soon, they both left town, the Freeper seeking a decent paying job with health benefits, while Natalie sought a surgeon who could flatten her head to carry the beer, needed to please her man. (neer neer neer). See if anyone can pick that up !!!!

We should hire illegal aliens to man border checkpoints. Cheaper and at the very least as effective as BP.

Is this the outline that you're sending to the publishing companies? Well done, and may I suggest that you shop Hill and Bill's publisher.

I have an alternative scenario, in case you'd like to be more honest. The first four paragraphs, although syrupy, are just fine.

Paragraph Five: Lance can no longer get a job in Michigan, because word of his bad attitude got around. If the union would only hire him, then he could be on easy street.

P. Six: Lance feels that he is special, and won't lower himself to work at a living wage, for a non union business. Lance used to make 25.00 an hour, on his first job. Every job thereafter went down a few bucks, until no one would bother interviewing him after his last firing. Because he is so special, he lives off Natalie and her family. He's just too damn good to work for peanuts.

P. Seven: Finally Natalie's family has had enough. Lance chose Natalie specifically because she may be sweet, but she doesn't have backbone, and is easily manipulated. He grudgingly takes jobs, in which he alienates his boss and fellow workers.

P. Eight: Lance has no friends. A neighbor found a job for him, but it was beneath his talents. Hey, he worked on a casino in Palm Springs. Too bad they cut him loose the minute the job was done. He would work jobs that the neighbor found for him under the table, but he screwed his neighbor's buddy. Probably because the guy was Hispanic. No more jobs for Lance.

P. Nine: Perfect the way it is. Remember, if this was 150 years ago, people like Lance were lynching black folks. They hate everyone, and it's all "their fault" because they can't act like normal human beings.

P. Ten: Natalie screwed up big time, but it isn't exactly her fault. She grew up in an abusive environment, and ended up with an abuser. She pretends everything is fine, because Lance has threatened her and her family if she leaves.

P. Eleven: We have a nation of sociopaths, who expect everyone to bow down and worship them. Everything is an excuse with these people. This goes for the employers who would rather hire an illegal for half the normal wage, rather than hire a legal worker with good references. Good references usually means they want at least a decent, comparible wage. Your scenario is very familiar to me, but for obviously different reasons. You're using an example of someone who would rather live off his woman, than work his butt off.

Next chapter: Natalie gets her butt kicked by a fellow stripper. While she's recovering from her injuries, Lance decides that it would be a good idea to start a family. He impregnates her, and promptly puts her on welfare.

Illegal aliens have nothing to do with white trash....

When Bush or Gonzalez are asked about the border, they are as slippery as teflon coated eels in a bucket of baby oil.

Every time the National or State Republican party call me for more money, I tell them not one cent until our borders are secure and a start is made to deport these CRIMINAL INVADERS.

Yep... and I add "rogue Judges," too. If I'm in a really bad mood, I'll add "Euthanasia & Useless Eaters" as well...

And return every letter begging for more money, in its Stamped Self Addressed Envelope with "Illegal Aliens & Runaway Judiciary" as well.

I'll support politicians who support America and Americans, but damned if I help the other side.

For me, these are the three defining issues:

-Men(ace) in Black? SCOTUS goes Rogue...--

-Useless Eaters vs The Death Cult--

-Thunder on the Border-- (Minuteman Project)--
