FReeper Canteen~May~National Military Appreciation Month~May 5, 2005
May 4, 2005 | bentfeather/Canteen Crew

Posted on 05/04/2005 8:06:40 PM PDT by Soaring Feather

For the freedom you enjoyed yesterday...
Thank the Veterans who served in The United States Armed Forces.

~May~ National Military
Appreciation Month~

We thank you, you who volunteer
To join the military to protect
what's here...
The Constitution, the Rule of law,
Our way of freedom loved by all
In this wondrous land of ours
Whose Stars and Stripes flow freely
O’er the land, whose seas are free,
Don’t tread on us... we are too, proud
To let you turn us into dust!

We appreciate your bravery, your valor,
Your honor, your gallantry,
Thank You for all you do.
And let Freedom ring the whole world through.

The price that's paid for freedom made
an entire family terribly sad.
A nation must know the price that's paid
of blood, of tears, of love,
greater than any made
a life for freedom paid.

May our gracious God touch the hearts
and ease their pain.
Their loved one did not die in vain...
A Hero walks tall in a lofty land
of peace and will be forever young,
In the Mansions of the Lord.

Amen

She has expressed some interest in that.

I THINK the local High School teaches it, but I may get her a tape or something before then.

You ought to see her with her chop-sticks!

SO very dainty with the sushi!

But keeping the fuel tank indoors is the very first logical reason I have heard for even having a basment in the first place.

IIRC, in my reading, it seems that the heating oil tank is a Johnny-Come-Lately to the cellar. That honor belonged first to the coal bin...especially in NY and PA.

What really surprises me is that homes here in AZ don't have them...cellars are naturally cool places, and would be ideal for beating the summer heat here in the desert.

Hi, MamaB! Glad to see you here in the Canteen! It is the best place to hang out in FR. There is always lots going on and the best part is that everyone here honors the troops and it warms a Military Mom's heart (that would be me!) So stay and have some fun!

Hey! How's Nana doing--hope just getting better all the time.

Maybe the reason for no cellars in AZ is like here in Texas--the bedrock is sooooo hard, no one wants to, or can afford to, dig into it for a cellar. (sorry for butting in :o) )
