Senior Libyan al-Qaeda suspect Abu Faraj al-Libbi has been arrested in Pakistan, the government says.
Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said the suspect had been caught earlier in the week.
He would give no details of the arrest. Other reports said two suspects were captured in the Waziristan region of North West Frontier Province on Monday.
Libbi is said to have become third in the al-Qaeda hierarchy after Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was caught in 2003.
He is wanted in connection with two attempts on the life of Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf.
More details soon.

WHY does the military announce this crap? The news media is telling EVERYONE that this guy is talking. WHY do we have to announce this? It is ruining the chances to capture other people. I just don't get it. I wish they could keep this stuff a secret.During an appearance to talk about Social Security, Bush praised the government of Pakistan for the arrest earlier this week of Abu Farraj al-Libbi.

Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to the daily Operation Phantom Fury--Day 178 - Now Operation River Blitz--Day 73. We try our darndest to keep up with what is going on in Iraq and on the War on Terror.Thank you so much for the invitation--I will definitely check it out, especially because for me, FR is the only source of current events in the War on Terror. Thanks again!

Luckily enough, this slob is being held by the Pakistaniis. They will "question" him at some length using acceptible methods of intelligence extraction according to their codes.
Were he being held by us (US); I'm sure we'd be equally as forceful...perhaps, after days of torture and deprivation, he'd give up the location of the nearest McDonald...or his mother's favorite recipe for sheep dip.
Then of course, we arrest all of the US prison guards and convict them of torturing the poor slob.
Then the ACLU would claim him a victim, and send him lots of money, a free passport, a lifetime Visa to the US, and two acres of land in Nebraska.
That'll teach 'im.

yeah, it does fluctuate ... but what was #1 for the last 3 days? One story or another about Abu Graib (sp?)! That does not change, despite the fact that maybe 2 people care anymore.

Yeah, but look at the first picture you posted on #83, the one with the Pakistani Interior Minister holding up the picture of al-Libbi. I tell you, the Interior Minister is Walter Mondale! : )
