I was talking about the goofballs who dress up as klingons and such, specifically. Watch the documentary Trekkies sometime and you'll see what I'm talking about. They are a whole different breed of humanity.

With the exception of Babylon 5 which I think it the best Sci - Fi show ever.

Agreed!

B% the only Sci-fic series to show a program from the guys who kept the station running, the real maintenance guys, running around with brooms, and tools and lunch boxes.

What was the last program to have the peons star.

I don't remember the title, but that is the best piece of science fiction writing ever.

Puts all the plastic officers and wimps of all SCI Fic problems to shame.

Just the regular doing his job and getting it done, no matter what is thrown at him.

I kept watching in the hope Janeway would get thrown out of the airlock.

Only if she took that ingratiating 'Neelix' character with her!

Does anyone know when the first season of Battlestar Galactica comes out on DVD? I've only seen the pilot miniseries (which I own). Also, please add me to your ping list.

I own the Firefly set but I can't bring myself to watch the last disc because I know that's the end of it. How Fox could have cancelled this wonderful show is beyond my comprehension.

Well, the first three seasons of the show anyway.

Sadly, this has been the best season of all of them for Enterprise. They finally got some decent writers and some decent scripts--so they cancel it. Pity. I had hoped the SciFi channel might pick it up, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

What cons did you go to. I usually went to the ones in the Chicago area (Capricon, Dukcon, Windycon.)
Yes Firefly, Babylon 5 and Crusador were great. I do like the new Battlestar too.

Hi, BibChr:

I'm in total agreement on "B-5". Great writing, cast, effects and stories. No episodic series before or since has come close to touching it!

Jack.

B5--I second that! Some of the special effects weren't so special, but it had great plots, great stories.

Well Sci-Fi has Sg1 (without RDA), Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica..

I have to differ. Don't get me wrong, B5 is great, but "Firefly" was the best Sci-fi series ever.

No, B5 is still the best, but I do understand your sentiments. Firefly was potential greatness, but was cut-down by network nitwittery before it could achieve its potential (just like B5:Crusade). I have both B5 and Firefly on DVD; I highly recommend them.

I still don't get why they are canning Enterprice before the usual 7yr standard.

I REALLY do think this season was superior to all but the 1st (and parts of the 2nd), and Enterprise was noted as THE MOST DOWNLOAED of ALL TVSHOWS (including things like south park, simpsons, 24, etc) internationally.

Its popular to sell in Europe, it obviously has the 'replay' syndication potention that ALL trek has had, hell they were even looking for 'private investment' to finish up 7yr stint.

Note how Battlestar Galactica (my fav next to Babylon5) was also PASSED ON and only got made because Murdoch's "Sky One" paid or 50% of the production costs.

Of course now Sci-Fi is kicking themselvs that Sky holds the EXCLUSIVE rights to it. Meaning UK will get the season 1st before SciFi just like Season 1 (hello bittorrent-- again)

I'm TV execs will look back on the abandoning of the series a bit early as a mistake.

(after they get done with DVD sales and syndiation and realize they wish they had more 'matieral')

Well, they had all those reruns of Cops, the failed "reality" shows, and flopped sitcoms to run. Didn't have time for quality.

That must have been it. They needed to free up airtime for Monica Lewinsky's reality show.

Yes, bless them for that--yet, they ARE the SciFi channel, so it would make sense for them to run more SciFi programs like ST:E. Especially if they can keep the quality up. (And I would never say this about Voyager, which as far as I could tell, had no quality whatsoever.)

From what I understand Star Trek will be gone for a couple of years. Also Rick Berman's contract is going to expire in 06 meaning that he would no longer be producing Star Trek.. Someone else would.. I think that is why the canceled the show. I think the next Trek is going to be either on Spike Tv or Sci Fi..

Who said TV Execs has brains...
