I don't get the Hollywood bashing. It is just written entertainment that IMO is not to be taken as gospel. Exactly right.
They're are many newcomers to 24 (a lot of them Freepers) who tuned into the show because it was hyped by Glen Beck and Michael Savage at the beginning of the year. I don't know what they were expecting, but 24 is just a TV show--it's written entertainment, like you said. It's not intended to be a documentary or an exposé, which seems to have disappointed some to the point that they will gladly mock anyone who enjoys the show.

Is it me, or is the Glenn Close character not working this season? First, I am SICK of every department having a woman or a minority as its "captain." Right. Look at real police departments. One in a gazillion.
Second, it seems pretty clear that Vic is going to have to "off" Shane, because he's out of control and Vic can't allow him to live.
Third, I don't see the tension between Vic and Glenn Close, and trying to make CCH Pounder into the "bad guy" isn't working.
These are great writers, and they may well tie all these up. I'm waiting.

I've been a huge fan of this show since the beginning of season 1.
Have also noticed a few glitches in the story this year but what the heck, it's still the only good show on TV. LOVE IT!!
They just need a FReeper consultant. ;-D

Monday's episode was the best in years! I don't know about that. That comment about losing track of the nuclear tanker in the "mountains" of Illinois/Iowa really cracked me up and made the show lose a bit of believability.

Unlike the likes of them, the POTUS doesn't have the luxury of doing nothing. Althought the new prez on "24" is pretty close to a do-nothing himself.

Although the new prez on "24" is pretty close to a do-nothing himself.I know what you are saying, because the VP is a deer in the headlights as of this point. But in the face of two terrorist attacks earlier in the day and a warhead in the possession of the terrorists as the next day begins, he HAS to make a decision about what to do to protect the country; that's his first concern. He can't say "We can't do anything to stop it unless we are sure an innocent party won't be inconvenienced."
OTOH, The "Amnesty Globals" think about protecting the Constitutional "rights" of the people who are suspected of taking actions that could make the Constitution irrelevant.

When American muslims started protesting each week's episode and whining about islam being "disrespected", it made me a fan for life. I haven't watched the show. Are the bad guys still Muslim terrorists, or have they discovered the "evil middle-aged white guy" behind it all yet?

Last night's show certainly didn't paint "Amnesty Global" (aka Amnesty International) in a good light. Before Jack made the connection and asked the question, I was yelling at the TV, "Hey folks, how did the attorney know that the perp was there? Why are you so incurious about that?"
We just started watching the show this season. We've gotten the DVDs from Netflix, and have watched both the first and second seasons. The first disc of Season 3 is due to arrive tomorrow!

I saw an interview of Keifer on the Actors Studio just the other night. He has a grandfather in Canada who Keifer spent a lot of time with while growing up. This grandfather was a lefty and a main figure behind Canada's national health care, keifer referred to it as "the one that works". He really admires and loves his deceased grandfather and probably has a leftish tilting political orientation. Still, I liked the guy. He seems to have a good soul. That counts for a lot regardless of his present political leanings. I think he would have been good to Rush and would not have taken a A-holish stance like some other actors we could think of.
BTW, I worry about Rush, sometimes. I have no idea what he wanted to convey by that barmaid story, but I am sure he would not be happy with what he did in fact convey. Sometimes his "harmless little fuzz ball" tag seems more appropriate than at others. OK, I don't mean that as an attack, just a genunine concern for someone I do find good to listen to whenever I can. He is an important personage for us, and I dont want to see him fall victim to another sad story like the one from his Florida home.
To: AmishDude
They could have used a fake name like the Global Campaign for Human Rights, but they wanted to let you know it was Amnesty International they were referring to. Right on!

Denis Leary is an interesting fella. I don't usually like his stand up routines because I just don't like hearing the 'F' word that much, but when I can get past that, he can be pretty funny sometimes. I saw him in the movie
The Referee a few years ago and just LOVED it! He lost a cousin in the fire at the cold storage facility in Worcester back in 1999, and has been a big supporter of the Fire Department ever since. He has a Celebrity Hockey game every year to raise money for the fund that helps the families of firefighters killed in the line of duty.
I met his brother, John, a few years ago, when our youngest was attending classes to prepare for First Communion. John's daughter was in the same class. He was laughing about Denis's production company, The Twelve Apostles. Their mom thought it was so nice that Denis named his company after Jesus's disciples. John said he Denis named it for the leadership of the IRA, which called itself The Twelve Apostles, but they didn't tell their mom that. ;o)

I've been a huge fan of this show since the beginning of season 1. Me too!
I think that what some who are watching for the first time don't realize is that the show, by it's nature, will have loose-ends. Not every plot will be resolved inside a 24 hour period. To me, that makes it all the more intriguing.
