CHICAGO (CNS) -- Before the cardinals locked into the Sistine Chapel had a chance to cast their first ballot April 18, a group protesting the lack of women's voices in the conclave gathered outside Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago to send up billows of bright pink smoke along with prayers for women to be heard. The event featured statements from several organizations supporting the ordination of women that called on the church to open its doors fully to women's participation. "At a time when young women are sold into slavery around the world, when war brings the rape of women, when it is women and children who suffer in poverty on earth and organized religions keep women in bondage celebrating the language of a male God, we know we cannot keep the silence demanded by male leadership in a church that claims to speak out for human rights," said Dominican Sister Donna Quinn, a member of the National Coalition of American Nuns.

Will the gays want a purple smoke to be sure they are represented?

Awwww, SIster is a feminist. Isn't that precious?
Seriously, she, and her ilk need to be purged. Someone tell me why this has not happened yet!

How come feminism always goes back in the closet whenever the lawn needs mowing, or when the car needs a new alterator belt or when the trash needs to be taken out?
I don't see these women getting too riled up about being excluded from the draft either. I can think of a lot more things that women can do to make themselves more equal - if that's what they really want.

I don't think it is a sin. These are her opinions and don't necessarily go against the commandments given to us by God or Jesus. I think you would have to consider her opinions and beliefs as a whole to determine whether or not what she says goes against Church teaching, though, and whether or not she is really a Catholic.

Damn, I could hear the annoying screech of their shrill voices in my head babbling on about women's rights and equality as I read the article.

My girlfriend loves knitting. My mom loves crochet(ing?) My mom and my sister love(d) to knit, but I just didn't get the rhythm of it. I picked up crochet easily, they didn't get that, so it was a nice mix.
My girlfriend also loves making me clothes.
Sewing is definitely an almost lost art. My mom was an excellent seamstress/tailor, she was quite remarkable. I didn't get the 'sewing gene'. It's definitely a talent. You're very lucky. Sounds like a good match.

Why do these commies have to hijack the very feminine color of pink. I resent it.

Thanks a whole heck of a lot. It's almost lunch time here on the East Coast ... that was a top-notch appetite suppressant.
