KALAMAZOO (NEWS 3) - The man accused of dousing former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan with salad dressing has pleaded not guilty in a Kalamazoo court.
Samuel John Messick was arraigned on charges of disturbing the peace Thursday. He reportedly tossed a cup of salad dressing on the conservative commentator at a speech he was giving at Western Michigan University on March 31st.
Buchanan decided not to press felony assault charges against the man.
Messick will be back in court at the end of the month.
Come on Pat! You're supposed to be a tough guy...
Highly disappointed.
Buchanan decided not to press felony assault charges against the man.

Ya know, I think I would be pi**ed off too and I would nail the scum bag as hard as I could. Maybe these loser leftists might develop a little respect others' rights and politeness, of which, PRESENTLY THEY HAVE NONE. You treat gutter trash, just like gutter trash.
Gotta admire Pat here. People on the other side would be suing for pain and suffering, but Pat sees it for what it is: salad dressing.
***Man accused of dousing Buchanan with salad dressing in court***
Let me get this straight. Pat Buchanan was in a courtroom when this guy dumped salad dressing on him?
Case will be tossed.
Nonetheless, he will find some snake of a lawyer to argue he didn't do it. Lawyers are that way: Truth is the first casualty in court.
That's how I saw it. Prepare for incoming fire.
I'm not admiring him for his decision. Until conservatives start filing charges on these punks, they'll continue to have carte blanche to assault speakers and disrupt free speech.
Well, if you are ever assaulted by someone throwing food at you, be sure to just brush it off and carry on.
"Gotta admire Pat here. People on the other side would be suing for pain and suffering, but Pat sees it for what it is: salad dressing."
I respectfully disagree. Filing felony assault charges is much different than suing somebody for pain and suffering. Basically Pat is saying, "whoever wants to disrupt my speeches by throwing food on me is welcome to."
I also don't like decision-making based on the opposite of what "the other side would do". That's for liberals.
There's a difference between a frivolous lawsuit for pain & suffering vs. pressing charges for assault. Perhaps he would've been more inclined to go after the perp if he were Jewish.
Alright, I wasn't there, so I didn't see what happened to Pat. Was he injured? Was it thrown in his face? If so, then felony charges would be warranted. But, if it just dirtied his suit, for example, I'd disagree.
I do understand your points of view, but I like the idea of this side showing a tougher skin.
And, yes, I've encountered far worse than salad dressing (in the rough neighborhood where I grew up, on subways, etc.)
I hope he got tossed.
Pat's needs a Sledge-o-Matic
That said, I don't think enviro-wackos will be breaking in on any trading or commodities floors in London anytime soon...

Thankfully, it wasn't nails & ball bearings via explosive vest !!! ;-))
Felony? That does not compute. Pointing a gun at someone is a felony. Hitting someone with a baseball bat is a felony. Salad dressing is simple assault, a misdemeanor, in most jurisdictions.
Maybe the leftist had added acid to the salad dressing? More likely, the reporter simply botched the story and doesn't understand the difference between a felony and a misdemeanor. At any rate, the article is missing key facts or is simply wrong.
