Hill: It's Madame Prez time
New York Daily News ^ | April 12, 2005 | Rush & Molloy

Sen. Hillary Clinton has been in politics long enough enough to know that polls can be misleading.

So she told us yesterday that, despite a recent survey that indicated only 68% of men would be willing to vote for a female president, she thinks the time is right.

"It depends on the woman," she said at the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards luncheon yesterday at the Waldorf-Astoria. Indeed, the New York legislator may very well be that woman on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

Cristiane Amanpour agreed.

"I feel Americans will be ready to empower a woman."

And CBS' Lesley Stahl added, "It's always distressed me that in macho places in Europe and Asia the parliamentary system can produce women prime ministers but somehow our system can't manage that."

Oprah Winfrey exclaimed: "That's about how women see other women. Do we see ourselves as capable and strong? I'm going to have to change this!"

And you know that she will.

Barney Frank would probably be preferrable to Senator Clinton, but that's not the issue. Why put your vote behind a pro-abortion candidate before we get to the primaries? There ARE other options. As a matter of fact, there are other and better FEMALE options than Condoleezza Rice. She is great on foreign policy, and she is doing a fine job as SOS, but she is not a social conservative.

Um, please go back and re-read my post. As a matter of fact, please re-read the entire thread. And then feel free to apologize to me, like a good Christian. I've already forgiven you.

"Border security" is nothing more than a smoke-screen issue, unless you are referring specifically to shipping containers. All of the 9/11 terrorists entered this country legally, and smuggling any significant amount of radioactive material accross the Mexican border would be flat-out impossible, due to the weight and bulk of satisfactorily shielded transport.

Looks more and more like Sanford is NOT running and is pretty adamant about it. Of course we'll keep our eyes on him, but here's someone I think I like even better.

I think that Republicans are best when they don't control all 3 branches of government. When Reagan was pres. there was a dem Congress. Then under Clinton there was a rep Congress.

Maybe it was an overstatement to give Thatcher equal credit, but she was typically Reagan's only supporter in NATO, and her rejection of Socialism when the rest of Europe was embracing it set a more visible example to Eastern Europeans through remarkable economic growth.

Generally, the three of them are all given credit, whether you like it or not. But that wasn't my point anyway. My point was that she was a much better leader than a lot of the presidents that this country has produced.

"People shouldn’t kid themselves into thinking she can’t win. She can. I would say her chances in ’08 are at least 50-50… probably better."

You are correct, sad to say! With the majority of the MSM behind her (and saying absolutely nothing bad about her), plus the huge, huge amount of money that will fill her coffers, plus...

Oh, man! Republicans had better get busy fast! Just because WE can't fathom her winning the presidency doesn't mean it can't happen.

"Hillary LOVES Muslims"

She and Bhillary sure entertained the Arafats enough at the White House, 200 times IIRC?

But how many times did they invite Dr. James Dobson, Dr. James Kennedy, Dr. Billy Graham? Rabbi Daniel Lapin? Conservative Catholics?

And don't let her tell us she's recently "repented" ....

"so did Bill Clinton "subjugate" women?"

Yes. Bill abused any women he could seduce and abused some he couldn't. Subjugation. Demeaning. Treating badly. Forcible domination.

All under color of, and sometimes IN the Oval Office. And in the Arkansas Governor's office before that. The man is a disgraceful predator.

And Hillary did NOTHING to stop him. There's your cowardly Feminist, standing firm as Jell-o for your equal rights.

"...to empower a woman."

It's phrases like this that will make people vote for someone else. As elected representatives, they're supposed to be serving, not wielding power.

At first I was greatly concerned about Hitlery's chances of winning. But her pathetic attempt to paint herself as a patriotic American is continually convincing me that the first woman president will be a Conservative of the Thatcher variety...strong because she doesn't need to brag about her strength, powerful because she does what is right and in the interest of the majority and the nation, not because of dirty tricks and gender politics.
