Sen. Hillary Clinton has been in politics long enough enough to know that polls can be misleading.

So she told us yesterday that, despite a recent survey that indicated only 68% of men would be willing to vote for a female president, she thinks the time is right.

"It depends on the woman," she said at the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards luncheon yesterday at the Waldorf-Astoria. Indeed, the New York legislator may very well be that woman on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

Cristiane Amanpour agreed.

"I feel Americans will be ready to empower a woman."

And CBS' Lesley Stahl added, "It's always distressed me that in macho places in Europe and Asia the parliamentary system can produce women prime ministers but somehow our system can't manage that."

Oprah Winfrey exclaimed: "That's about how women see other women. Do we see ourselves as capable and strong? I'm going to have to change this!"

And you know that she will.

You certainly have revealed your bigotry toward Christians. Is your contempt the same for Liberal Christians? Or is it just Conservative Christians who want to subjugate women? Psssssssst: A pro-choice Republican is someone who believes in choice as in "life is the option." A "pro-choice" Democrat believes the choice is "partial birth, saline injection or dismemberment."

I'd still rather have Condi as president than Hitlery. And I'm pro-life, NOT "pro-choice." I know that Condi would likely sign any legislation to ban abortions if such were to come across her desk. The QB, on the other hand, would vehemently oppose any legislation that didn't make abortion mandatory. My point is this: Rice would probably beat Hillary in any election, and I'd rather vote for a pro-choice Republican than an anti-freedom Socialist.

This queen of darkness clawed all the way to the White House once before. Never underestimate the power of women, minorities and the Democrat "base." It almost elected Al Gore.
As for the Christian Right, I tend to agree that it hates her partly because of her gender, but more importantly, because of her lack of ethics. She is so easy to hate.

I disagree about the Christian Right. I think people in general dislike hitlery because they see she has no honerable intentions with regards to our country. I just read a poll conducted by Rasmussen found that just 49 percent may want a woman in the White House, according to the New York Post, and reported in Newsmax. Excerpt from story
"The number of people actually willing to vote for a woman may be closer to 49 percent than 72," Rasmussen told the Post.

The gap on voting for a female candidate is true of Democrats, Republicans, men, woman and all ages, according to the survey of 1,000 adults taken Wednesday and Thursday, the Post reported."

You two need to re-read presidio9's post more carefully. You have both completely mis-interpreted what he was saying. He was in no way denigrating Christian conservatives. It's all in the placement of the semi-colon.

People who have real self confidence and personal power don't need to be "empowered" or feel the need to tell anyone of their power.

They all whine about being "empowered", yet the term implies that the recipient of this "empowerment" is intrinsically powerless, and so must be granted power by some external.

What??!! Where are you getting this idea? I am definitely in the "Christian Right" (as defined by the Left), but I do not see that "subjugation" of women that you claim exists. Are there some men in the "Christian Right" who subjugate women? Yes, I am sure that there are some. Are there men in the Left, the Right, the "libertarian" groups who also subjugate women? Yes - most definitely.
