But .. my concern is the dems will jump on this to reprise Eason Jordan's statements about the USA targeting journalists.
Get ready!!
This was BOUND to happen. You have to wonder about journalists who get footage BEHIND enemy lines as often as they do. :-)

Well .. Iraq kicked Al Jazeera out of their country for doing this very thing. I don't remember the nationality of the reporters, but there were a handful of them who had to leave - and I don't believe their TV signal is allowed - because Iraq accused them of "inciting violence" during the Nejaf uprising.

"That was my second thought. My first one was that troops who were under arrest shot him. I wondered why the troops were under arrest."
English is a tricky language which is often practiced porely.

Now that you mention it...I DO remember that. Al Jazeera got pretty bent out of shape as I remember.

Yes they did .. but it wasn't the USA who did it - it was Iraq - and it died down really quickly since nobody could blame the USA for denying them freedom of the press .. LOL!

This is a letter to the editor I mailed in November '04.
Central Command news release 04-11-04 illustrates efforts by major news organizations to setup photo ops to show the killing of American soldiers. In this ambush our Marines killed a cameraman who worked for a major news agency. Inspection of the videotape revealed footage of previous attacks on vehicles including use of RPGs, an IED, and small arms.
As you view news footage, ask yourself whether the pictures were possible unless the insurgents told them the where and when. Recently I saw footage taken from a camera setup at one end of an alley, which recorded a tank retriever being hit by an IED, just as passed the street end of the same alley. You should also ask soldiers and families of soldiers about evidence they see of alignment with the insurgents. An Oregon National Guard soldier shared with his family reasons, which assured him the AP was working directly with the insurgents.
Such behavior may be morally reprehensible, but it can be deadly for our troops. These same news agencies have extensive access to our military, not available to the insurgents. By sharing the information they receive, their news stories can achieve a much greater level of drama and entertainment.
Ernie Pyle and Bill Mauldin could be a terrible pain in the rear to our political and military leadership, but they were always loyal Americans. Somehow we have lost that proper definition of objectivity.

Err, at one time, wasn't Dan Rather a CBS News anchor?

And perhaps why so many of those roadside IEDs and ambushes were successful.
