EXCERPTED from EMail:
The most important vote in Congress this session will be coming up soon. The Senate will vote to both abide by the Constitution and require a simple majority to end a filibuster, or to require 60 votes to end a filibuster as liberals desire.
Call your Senators today. Tell them you want them to vote to end a filibuster by a simple majority as the Constitution requires. Should the Senate fail to conform to the Constitution's rule of a simple majority, a minority of 40 liberal Senators can use the filibuster to force their agenda on every American.
The toll-free number is 1-877-762-8762. Ask to speak with your Senator. When finished leaving your message, call your other Senator.
Hutchison seems to be awfully coy about this......
Hutchison has been like that for years.
I just don't care much for her.I hold my nose when I vote for her. :)
Thanks for finding out what happened. The original number you posted worked fine yesterday when I called one of my senators.
As you know today the number was answered by a recording from those who want the filibuster of judicial nominees to continue.
American Family Association needs to find out why the number they reserved was given to those on the other side.
I also requested the Mod Ad put the correct number in your message text. However, there are still many posts that repeat the incorrect number.
Thanks for alerting everyone to the importance of making these calls; especially today during the March for Justice.
FRegards,
Julie

Constitution of the United States
Article II.
Section 2.
...
[The President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for...
This is what it's all about.
The Constitution makes a clear mandate for 2/3 concurrence of the Senate with regard to the President's power to make treaties, but the sentence construction does not carry that same mandate over to the other Presidential powers that are listed following; including the appointment of Judges to the Supreme Court. Ruling that a filibuster can only be broken by a 60 vote majority is a de facto contravention of this Constitution in that it violates the inferred simple majority requirement and, thus, abrogates the Presidential powers.
In order to be consistent with the language of the Constitution, the Senate rules must be changed to either allow a simple majority to break the filibuster OR to ban filibustering whenever the Senate sits for the purpose of giving "Advice and Consent".

BRAVO BUMP for your #108 which explains why the 'Constitutional Option', regarding 'advise & consent' judicial nominations, needs to be passed!
This morning while on my way to D.C. for the march, I heard a radio commercial sponsored by MoveOn urging everyone to call Specter's office to tell him not to stop the filabuster. So PA freepers, be sure to call Specter's office to try to convince him support the vote.
This was on KYW radio, about 7 am - paid for by MoveOn.
Thanks, Abby...for urging PA Freepers to call Specter.
