So! Do you see that bar at the top of each and every thread? That's a gentle kick in the rear to donate to FR to keep the lights on.

I have had enough of hurt feelings and name calling around here. I don't really want to sing KUMBAYA with y'all.... but could we all be a bit more considerate. For those who are unable to contribute financially, I'd like to suggest an alternative. Thoughtful commentary that ADDS to intelligent discussion contributes TREMENDOUSLY to the success of the forum. And so does posting of news and opinion articles from the vast variety of resources available on the Internet. So one way to contribute would be to avoid posting duplicate articles from the same old mainstream media outlets that we see day-in and day-out. And posting appropriate articles from alterative news & opinion sources (NOT the kook sites) to help elevate the level of informed discussion is also GREATLY appreciated.

Serioulsy-Freepers can also help the forum by using their awesome sense of humor if they read something which they think is a put down.
If I may elaborate on my thought: we get plenty of articles from AP, Reuters, NYT, ABC/CBS/PMSNBC/FOX, LAT/WP, WSJ, etc. etc. etc., as well as various political Think Tanks, etc.
But there are also many professional organizations that have online journals on the Internet with high quality news and opinions. (As an engineer, I'm naturally thinking of business, engineering and scientific publications, but there are plenty of other professional fields that would also be appropriate.) Granted, a lot of these articles may get excessively detailed for general discussion. But many can also provide a very informed perspective on issues that would be of interest to people outside of the profession. Articles of this nature, which truly do inform and educate, are very helpful.
Yes, the various humor and chat threads are helpful for relieving the stress that may accumulate from participation on the other threads. They certainly have their useful purpose, and fortunately, we have no shortage of those outlets. I'm merely suggesting that some may wish to seek out articles with a bit more meat and potatoes to them. High quality articles that truly provide informed insight, yet are not published in the more widespread mass media.
No, but you have a very negative and harsh attitude. There are a lot of people on the Free Republic who can be just as harsh. They pounce on a lot of folks given half a chance. Especially if they do not agree with them. If you take everything everyone says personally, you will feel much worse.
I would also suggest that if you want to stop turning people off you might try changing your attitude and the way you talk to us on the thread. Re-read you statement to me and see how you sound to someone else. I've read some of your comments to others here and you are not being very nice about it.
I just wish (Wish*wish*Wish) that people could take things with a grain of salt if they have received a reply which contains an insult.
