It sure felt good here in Kansas to vote for that amendment and see it pass. Now on to the federal government...

Yay, Kansas--- I saw where a Texas rep. had proposed a similar bill---I hope it at least makes it to a vote---I want a bill that can't be overturned by the neighborhood judge!

The Rev. Jerry Johnston of Overland Park, who pushed for the ban, said the amendment was not about discrimination, as opponents claimed. Hey, thats my old home town. Its been nearly 30 years since I lived there, great memories. Good to see the folks up there still have common sense.

God bless Kansas! I see that with 198 of 210 precincts reporting, the amendment won with 71% to 29%. Time for the weirdos to wake up and smell the napalm.

Eventually, moderate Kansans are going to stand up and say they've had enough, Brown said.
Looks like moderate Kansans already stood up and said no to your abomination.

Flyover Country has slapped down the libs and the homosexual agenda activists again. We're going to see if the Democrats get it. Or if they want to get pummelled again in Red State America in '06.

The vote is not reflective of the typical Kansan, said Steve Brown of Prairie Village, a member of Kansans for Fairness, a group that worked to defeat the amendment.Somebody needs to give this guy a math lesson... I'd say that nearly 70% of the votes would mean that it does... And 60% in Johnson County, which is the leftist stronghold in KS...
Eventually, moderate Kansans are going to stand up and say they've had enough, Brown said.
All 30% of them. Or maybe they'll just move to Massachusetts

Only 60%? I had it by 70%. I guess Kansas is changing like the rest of the nation.

Ignorant idiot. A lot of RINOs and yes, liberals voted for it. They're not homophobe bigots. They just believe marriage means what its always been - a union of one man and one woman. That's never been controversial. DUH.

It's over 70% statewide, actually; the 60% figure is just for Johnson County.

Actually, the leftist stronghold in Kansas is neighboring Douglas County, home to the University of Kansas. Only parts of Johnson County are bluish, and they are the older, poorer areas. I live in Overland Park, a very Bush-friendly area of JoCo.

With 200 of the 210 precints reporting 199 of them have voted in favor.
The 1 that voted against is in douglas county (isn't that where KU is located). The other precint from Douglas hasn't reported in yet.

I live in KS as well, and voted for it, but I'm not
happy about it.
If we need to turn constitutions into dictionaries,
that merely codify the definitions of words with
what we had thought were well-understood historical
meanings, then our culture has serious problems, and
such amendments are just rearranging deck chairs on
a metaphorical Titanic.
Depending, of course, on how you define "is".
To: MarkL
I think whatever the county KU is in is the real Liberal stronghold in KS, the little Blue county in the Nov. '04 sea of Red. Johnson County is pretty conservative, Jerry's church being one of many new suburban "mega-churches" or whatever they're called by the MSM.

The problem is the Left no longer accepts the way things used to be. And we have to set limits for them - thanks in no small part to activist judges.

Now 201 precincts reporting. Douglas is 41% for and 59% against with only that 1st precinct of 2 reporting.
