My opus from FR? Not.
04/01/2005 | Sender

Posted on 04/01/2005 5:17:45 PM PST by Sender

Some long-time valuable posters have announced their opus to leave FR today. Well I don't. This is my family, this is my home. I may have serious disagreements with other posters and may occasionally be discouraged at the direction FR is heading. But I am not a quitter. I am staying right here, right where the center of the action is, and I will never quit. So what if others post offensive comments or views? It's a free country. Anyhow, I'm not leaving, and there is no opus. I'm ready to take on the 21st century and drag it kicking and screaming over to our side. Long live the bastion of news and free speech, Free Republic!

"Do everybody a BIG favor and just keep quiet."

Why don't you have yourself another vodka martini and quit calling half of Free Republic "political naifs" OR "newbies"?

"Well, I happen ta think that cyborg looks purdy darn cute in jackboots."

Got any photographic evidence to back up that opinion? :)

OH YEAH? Well I'm leavin' because of both of you!

As Groucho Marx says, "I wouldn't be part of any club that would have me as a member."

Let their chains rest upon them lightly, and may history forget that they were our countrymen.

Seriously now, why give up such a fine news source over such inanities? 5-1 they all return to lurk after a week to least checking the headlines.

Here's something I don't know. When you post your opus is your account and homepage deleted or just simply inactive?

A local radio talk show host had on a girl from Denton, Tx, that went down there to be a Minutewoman (?)--she is ex-marine, I think---

Anyway, she said there are a lot of local police watching them to make sure they don't start anything---Tom Tancredo was down there rallying everyone---I don't know what city in Arizona she was in though---

I heard Bay Buchanan on CNN the other day telling Paul Begala that she will be going down with the Minuteman project---I don't know why...

Supposedly Fox has sent the Mexican army (is there one?) to stand on the other side of border to keep our Minutepeople in line!!! (I bet they are shaking in their cowboy boots! lol)

I have lurked for years, understand completely why some long timers are upset and have left, though I hope they all come back. Easter weekend I found posts comparing Gov Bush and Pres Bush to Pontius Pilate. That is way over the edge in my humble opinion. I also found myself wondering how well these folks supported Free Republic financially and suspected that they did not. How well do I support FR? I wish I could report that I have given regularly over the years but cannot. I fixed that this afternoon and can proudly say that I have participated in my first FReepathon.

I agree, if I had a problem with it, I'd just walk away. I have done so at times. People take a lot of stuff in too personal a manner I think. The interaction here is no different than at any other type of board, or for that matter any group of people. I've seen people storm out of our church, when I was growing up, for example, over a perceived (or real) slight. This is no different.

Really bad for me too and I pretty much did the same thing. When sadness out of my control gets too great, I pretty much turn it off, and give my family my total attention.

Not so sure my kids like mom always in their hair but my in-laws really appreciate it!

I'd leave, but Focault's Pendulum broke the logoff button.
