My opus from FR? Not.

Some long-time valuable posters have announced their opus to leave FR today. Well I don't. This is my family, this is my home. I may have serious disagreements with other posters and may occasionally be discouraged at the direction FR is heading. But I am not a quitter. I am staying right here, right where the center of the action is, and I will never quit. So what if others post offensive comments or views? It's a free country. Anyhow, I'm not leaving, and there is no opus. I'm ready to take on the 21st century and drag it kicking and screaming over to our side. Long live the bastion of news and free speech, Free Republic!

FR sucks very badly right now. But it'll blow over.
I don't respect anyone who writes an opus much, anyway.
NX (leaving FreeRepublic... until tomorrow. Gotta catch on much needed sleep.)

I first signed on to FR in Nov 2000 under a different name. I stayed 10 months.
I left, not because others had pissed me off, or that I was bored. Far from it.
I had to; I would go to work and spend almost my entire time at FR. I finally left my job and gave up computers - for three years! I created this new account a while back, at the library, but I didn't start using it until a few months ago, when I was given a computer for christmas. It didn't take long to find FR. And I'm back to spending many hours here.
Are long-timers leaving today? It's probably an April 1st joke. If they really are leaving because they are miffed about something, then I say good riddance. If they need a sabbatical, then take one; three years if they need to. For whatever reason they leave, but they'll still come back.

can you bump a good opus from the old days, todays were kinda wimpy.
Peolpe that think FR is a hard place to debate and peruade would not last 3 days in the old days of usenet news. My G-d people express passionate views about the horrific prolonged public death of an innocent woman, what the hell does poo and others expect? Let them try posting on an unmoderated, totally free speech forum, chatboard or whatever and they will be begging to get back on FR.

You got that right. I'm not leaving, but it's been a pretty pathetic place around here. When the owner tells people that facts don't matter, you have to wonder why any of us have done a lick of research all these years.
Glad to know we don't have to do it anymore. All that free time...and just in time for summer so I can enjoy our pool. LOL

I don't have any from 1999, and I don't think the search engine will find them, but I'll try.
