My opus from FR? Not.
04/01/2005 | Sender

Posted on 04/01/2005 5:17:45 PM PST by Sender

Some long-time valuable posters have announced their opus to leave FR today. Well I don't. This is my family, this is my home. I may have serious disagreements with other posters and may occasionally be discouraged at the direction FR is heading. But I am not a quitter. I am staying right here, right where the center of the action is, and I will never quit. So what if others post offensive comments or views? It's a free country. Anyhow, I'm not leaving, and there is no opus. I'm ready to take on the 21st century and drag it kicking and screaming over to our side. Long live the bastion of news and free speech, Free Republic!

Then I can have this forum all to myself without having to hear other people's stupid opinions.

I'll bump that for other people's stupid opinions.

Hey, the last week was really bad for me. I had my first ever post pulled for starting a flame war. I had six or seven posts to me pulled for the same reason. I stopped logging in, stopped watching TV, stopped listening to the radio. I only listened to "The Blues". I logged in today, sent in my $50, and pray I never have to see this country murder another human being.

I'm 52 miles Northwest of Phoenix, so I'm pretty far away from the Minutemen. I am scanning for radio down there (I have two shortwaves and a scanner) and asked folks to relay me any info on it. No luck yet, though.

I haven't heard what's going on there at the moment. Preliminary posts had it being around 400 folks. The posts were good earlier today, but they've probably taken the usual dump by now. Such is life.

Whew, I thought today was going to have to be deemed Opussy Day. Glad at least your opus is a nonopus. True, it has been really hard to be around here the last few weeks, and there are definitely a couple of Roto-Rooters (sh*t stirrers) I do my best to avoid - but never, I repeat NEVER, has it been one of my options to just quit and walk away. When I consider the alternatives to being here at FR, well, I shudder.

"When I consider the alternatives to being here at FR, well, I shudder."

Darn right! I've been down that road before, and bad as it might seem, this is a class act compared to the savagery that's out there.

I'm not a Roto-Rooter, am I?

Well, that's too bad, but leaving happens all the time.

Well with a name like Poohbah, it's hard not to imagine him as a Gilbert and Sullivan fan.

It's a big pity!

Hey, nopardons - I hope you don't get any fancy notions about leaving!

Kinda reminds me of "You won't have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore". They'll be back.

Vacation? Whoo-hoo, have a terrific time---and I was only half teasing about watching out for skin cancer, I have to watch out for the people I care for---

Have a safe trip and ping me when you get back!

Nope, Cowboy, you're not one of the Roto-Rooters. And, as tempting as it is to stick it to these little, annoying, name-calling, judgement-making s-stirrers, I won't because then I'd be just like 'em myself. And to that I say, NO THANK YOU.

Thanks. I've been working on my "smart@zz" routine for a few decades now. I'm grateful that I'm being publicly recognized for it. Plus, I've recently had to admit to myself that I have suffer from screen name envy. };)
