This weiner guy is really hotdogging it, pandering to his union thug constituency. A true left-wing thug, he wants to-and will fail-to deny Americans their freedom of choices in the marketplace. He also wants to deny hundreds of thousands of employees of Walmart their jobs at the expense of his contributions from his union boss friends. Another jackass who wants us to follow the failed, high unemployment of those failed socialist economies of Europe with their double-digit unemployment.

"Whenever a Walmart goes up, a ton of smaller specialty stores and restaurants pop up around it, across the street etc. The democrats hate capitalism. Period."

That's been my experience, too. My little town of 6,000 has been fighting them tooth and nail to keep them out of our community. I think they'll eventually lose, because people are moving out here like crazy; we must have three new subdivisions around us in the ten years I've lived here.

There are four or five of them nearby, all within 20-30 minutes, but if they put one in our tiny town, it would improve our tax base and bring in even more business. It's all emotion-based with the Town Elders who don't like change.

But...at the same time, they're courting a Walgreens drugstore, which WILL put our two small pharmacies out of business. Go figger.

Increases in other business has been my experiences when new wal-marts come to town..........especially in smaller communities.........and the local retailers are nearly unanimous in their support.

Well, I am no fan of unions whatsoever--so I don't wish that upon them; in fact, I am glad that they are one of the few companies of that size that has been successful as they have been in terms of dealing with unions.

What I don't like, is the amazing relationship with China that they (many other companies included; can't just single out Wal-Mart) have. As well as the way the stores are laid out (nitpicky, I know), and the way that employees there are treated. But, no one is forced to work there--free country after all.

I love their prices overall, selection is generally good (but not great).

I'd hate to be a vendor dealing with those guys, that's where the squeeze comes into play. A buddy of mine vends to them as well as a few other similar stores and says by far the most stressed out management, delivery process, etc is at Wal-Mart across the board.

This idiot and his cronies will be defeated by the lack of public support for their latest jihad. After that happens he will be a mere shell of the legislator that he once was, sort of a shriveled Weiner.

A Super Target was built in South Elgin sometime ago. Now there are restaurants being built, specialty stores etc. Guess what Target has stuff made in China and it is non union. If Walmart gives in, I have a feeling Target is next.

Hmmm! Five members of the United States Congress telling news broadcaster what to broadcast. Five members of the United States House of Representatives telling private companies who to hire, what to sell and who to do business with. Five members of the United States Government attempting to write legislation telling private business how to conduct business. Sound familiar? Sounds a lot like National Socialism of Fascism to to me. Wanna bet you see this take in the MSM or any other?

Is this the same low IQ person from Palm Beach that said hundreds of times that Clinton did not have sex with that woman????? Then said it did not matter and it was personal and could affect the job. Well 9/11 happened because of this illegal sex case. Did not go after the Terrorist went after the girls instead.

The corrupt labor unions still try to convince people that giving to them so they can line their pockets is better than being loyal to an employer that is giving them a job with benefits.

The Jimmy Hoffas still exist although they are going the way of all crooks including Jimmy who got cross ways with his Mafia bosses.

When Wal-Mart moved in here, the town's former 'core' businesses experienced a slump in business and several went under. However, around the Wal-Mart soon arrived Home Depot, Target, Kohl's, Marshall's, and more fine restaurants and banks than you can count. Now the 'Wal-Mart district' is the economic center of town, with almost any business thriving there. All it did was to move the business, not stifle it.

We had this huge mall area that went broke on Northern Ave in Glendale. They tried making it an antiques mall. That didn't work. They had one government office there. It was a bleak, ugly eyesore for years. Then Wal-Mart moved in redeveloped the site. Several huge stores are in the same area (Home Depot and more). Everything is new.

The eyesore is now a great looking retail area with hundreds of jobs. The entire neighborhood is now upgraded. New housing has gone in. The customers flock in, so the eyesore is now a great source of tax revenue as well. Thank you, Wal-Mart.

I think one WM superstore is good for 300 jobs. Maybe someone else has that figure.

A couple told me that they warned a single mother (a friend of theirs) not to stay in her position as a clerk in clothing at WM. That was five years ago. Now the woman is the manager of the same WM where she started. Tell me how many businesses allow that kind of rapid promotion?

Wait a minute! Let me grab my sweater and purse, and I'll join you.

--my sister worked part-time for the C-of-C in a Milwaukee surbub which fought off Wallyworld for several years.

In the meantime , she several times saw officers of that C-of-C 12-14 miles away-shopping at the closest Walmart--

"A true left-wing thug..."

I can't picture Weiner as a thug. He's the guy who, in junior high, would've had his shorts yanked down just as the girls' P.E. class took the floor. Ever notice it's that sort of guy who always manages to get himself elevated to some position of power just so he can get even?

I'll be in the next aisle over -- getting my kitty supplies! LOL
