Weiner Takes His Wal-Mart 'Crusade' to National Television BY MEGHAN CLYNE March 30, 2005
As part of what he called his "greater crusade against Wal-Mart," Rep. Anthony Weiner joined union members yesterday to protest the retailer outside ABC's Times Square studios, railing against the network for permitting Wal-Mart to sponsor a feature of "Good Morning America."
During taping of the morning show, the Brooklyn-Queens congressman, one of the four Democrats seeking the 2005 mayoral nomination, stood with members of the United Food and Commercial Workers' Union pressing anti-Wal-Mart signs against the studio's glass panels for the benefit of network cameras. The protesters' wrath was provoked by Wal-Mart's sponsorship of the show's "Only in America" series, which a network spokesman described as "segments which spotlight unique and courageous Americans and their inspiring stories."
Denouncing the "hypocrisy" of having an American-values feature supported by what is, in their view, a corporation inimical to those values, the union workers and Mr. Weiner demanded that ABC terminate Wal-Mart's sponsorship. With a Broadway sidewalk as his stage, the congressman also delivered prepared remarks condemning the retailer, which he called "an adjunct of China," referring to allegations that Wal-Mart relies excessively on Chinese imports to stock its American stores.

What a Weiner!
union thugs
What the heck do people have against Wal-Mart? I love shopping there- It has NOT 'killed the community', but rather brought more traffic.
People are going to shop somewhere- if someone can provide it cheaper and better then great!
Has any thing that the doomsayers claim ever happened?
What a quandry; so many reasons to hate Wal-Mart, so many reasons to support 'em.
Was the Congressman also outraged that Bill Clinton and Al Gore relied excessively on Chinese operatives for various shady dealings?
"hypocrisy" of having an American-values feature supported by what is, in their view, a corporation inimical to those values,"
Ya we all know real American values are heavy handed regulations, big union bosses, protectionism and the greater good.
Weiner is a joke. He seems like like the type who is the offspring of corned beef-commies.
You mean the Red Chinese kickback to the Clintons and the DNC via the Lippo Bank for allowing Loral Space to transfer taxpayer-financed missile technology ? No.
I agree with you.
I really don't understand all the Wal-Mart hating that goes on.

See ya there! I'll be where I always am; in the Dog Food isle, LOL!
I said it before, and I'll say it again: Congressman Weiner is the most properly named critter I've ever seen.
"stood with members of the United Food and Commercial Workers' Union"
Union thuggery tactic.
That guy has always been a weiner.
I'll join you in the minority here. There are so many respectable businesses and people who have been abused by Wal-mart that it will come back to them. If it's in the form of union thuggery, so be it.
WalMart is the USs biggest employer. The democrats would rather they all be on welfare than volutarilly working at WalMart. Whenever a Walmart goes up, a ton of smaller specialty stores and restaurants pop up around it, across the street etc. The democrats hate capitalism. Period.
I agree 100%. A new "super" Walmart was built on my city's depresses northeast side just 3 years ago; now the whole area has experienced an economic rennaissance - new stores, parks, new subdivisions, the whole works. All because Walmart moved in.
