While New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has virtually gone into hiding - as have many other Democrats - regarding whether or not Terri Schiavo should be starved to death, ex-President Bill Clinton was reportedly was "egging on" one of Hillary's colleagues to support federal intervention to rescue Schiavo.
Reports CBS's Dottie Lynch:
"[Sen. Tom Harkin] forged the coalition with Republicans Frist, Santorum, Martinez and, according to two sources, had the support of former President Clinton for his actions. While Mr. Clinton apparently didn't talk to Harkin until after the vote, one source described Mr. Clinton as 'egging him on.'"
It wouldn't be the first time Bill Clinton urged fellow Democrats to side with conservatives on traditional values issues.
During the presidential campaign, the triangulator-in-chief advised Sen. John Kerry to find a way to support at least a few of gay marriage bans that were on the ballot on eleven states.
Kerry rejected the advice and lost the election.
So why hasn't Mr. Clinton exhorted Mrs. Clinton to join Harkin in the bid to save Schiavo? "He probably did," one longtime Clinton watcher opined to NewsMax. "And it looks like she turned him down."
How? Through esp?
Well stated.

He wants to make euthanasia as "safe, legal and rare" as abortion.
This is the video that should be shown on the news everynight - it is even more powerful than the balloon video.

This is not reflex action - she heard the doctor, she opened her eyes as wide as she could to impress him.
Even Fox news has ignored this clip.
Doesn't mean his voice ought to be rejected.
It makes me so disgusted when I hear people bashing JJackson who from the beginning said this was wrong. Now he is there and everyone is hateful about him.
Seems if people are behind this cause and it is vital, they ought to be grateful for support from whatever quarter and NOT BE LOOKING GIFT HORSES IN THE MOUTH.
FR has already sunk so low, that the idea of Bill Clinton as the white knight riding to the rescue of conservatives isn't even all that remote.
We've already seen Jeb 'Pontius' Bush, and W run through the mud, while Jesse Jackson is hailed as a morally upstanding figure. At this point, all bets are off.
"I am sorry, but it is not possible for me to credit an anonymous source quoted by Newsmax, and especially when the report is of behavior I deem uncharacteristic of the individual."
Carl Limbacher has been at it a long time. His false reports are rare. He dates back to the beginning of this forum, if not sooner than that. Remember Washington Weekly? Our friends from Oyster Bay?
I may not bet the whole farm on what any reporter says, but I'd bet half the farm based on what Limbacher says. Rush, who is accurate more than 98% of the time, frequently quotes Limbacher. FReegards....
That's right, a lot of people forget that the first thing piggie signed was the Partial Birth Abortion bill. Then he went on to fire all the US Attorneys, etc. They set themselves up just like the Mafia would have done.
"FR has already sunk so low, that the idea of Bill Clinton as the white knight riding to the rescue of conservatives isn't even all that remote."
To look at it conversely, even the Black Knight is riding behind the FR banner on this issue.
Why look at something good and see bad?
Thank You- it must have been the Huffington discussion that I heard on the Hannity show.
Bill Clinton is all about winning, so I wouldn't deem this as uncharacteristic. If Hillary had come out in favor of Terri, Hillary would have won lots of brownie points with the Evangelical vote, with little impact to her base. Bill remained quiet not to undermine Hillary. Bill doesn't 'support' Terri, but sees opportunity for Hillary to win Red State support.
"Seems if people are behind this cause and it is vital, they ought to be grateful for support from whatever quarter and NOT BE LOOKING GIFT HORSES IN THE MOUTH."
Right, and there's no reason to credit Attila the Hun if he happens to help you for whatever reason that has nothing to do with you. We can just accurately say what's going on:
"A scumbag wants to defend her too."
If Gotti or Felos or bin Laden wants to defend her, then I'd say, "Even Mass Murderer and terrorist leader, bin Laden, wants her to live." I'd kill bin Laden first chance, but if he wants to chime in, I'd quote him.
Simple.
thanks , i'd never seen that before
A question was asked however. That question was ~
"Why at this late stage (when it might be too late) do these people suddenly decide to join the cause for saving Terri?"
I think the reasons are perfectly summed up in the following quote from Mark Twain.
In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated, and scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, for then it cost nothing to be a patriot. -- Mark Twain
======= TRUE TALES FROM "x42 ON THE MAKE" ======
At a Connecticut fundraiser in the spring of 1996, X42 made a "crack"
about a five-hundred-year-old Inca mummy that had just been discovered, at the summit of a Peruvian volcano.
"You know, if I were a single man, I might ask that mummy out," Clinton said. "That's a good-looking mummy."
