WASHINGTON -- By a margin of almost 2-to-1, likely Florida voters feel strongly that Congress and President Bush should have stayed out of the battle over Terri Schiavo's fate, according to a new poll conducted this week for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Florida Times-Union.

Yes, I know. And I certainly hope they come to their senses and realize how out of line they have been. He has shown in return nothing but empathy and kindness in face of their insults.
I agree. I admire Jeb even more now than I did before all of this started.
I hate to break it to you but yes there can be extreme wrongs covered over via following the letter of due process.
Consider every DNA case where DECADES later an innocent is release BUT ALL PROCEDURES were follows.
I am familiar with FL courts and I am familiar with guardianship cases. There is very little imagination required to convince anyone this is a travesty.
FNC had caddel on discussing this poll. He called it a blatent push poll. Even worse than the LA Times fraudulent poll during the recall election of CF.
What did Caddell have to say about this all today?
The republicans better not let this happen, this has nothing to do with politics,it's all about doing whatever necessary to find the truth and save a life.
Your comments read exactly like those of the die-hard Keyes supporters in IL, who refused to believe the Keyes/Obama polling data, even though it was obviously true.
All the polls in Germany were consistent too so the Jews dutifully lined up for the cattle cars.
Only problem with that theory is that the local courts have been extremely intrusive in the Shiavo case, so the public doesn't know the details of this case and the poll results are meaningless.
I been to three courthouses this week. There were only TWO people (who were not lawyes and judges) who wanted no government intervention.
The general sentiments were pro for allowing access to the federal court. People DO understant congress did not intervene, they only opened the door to the federal courts. The sentiment is the federal judge hates the parents to protect his judge buddy.
(I will never forget a girl saying she would come back out of her coma to kick the *ss of her husband if he cheated like that.)
I guarentee the fight has only just begun.
I've spent most of the day thinking, and to that end, I come back to the board and see people trying to intimidate others into silence because of a poll? We've been on the losing side of the polls from the start, what new evidance is this?
Polls on whether she should live or die disgust me. And those that use these polls to validate that sentiment disgust me. Do those advocating death REALLY feel triumphant a majority agrees an innocent woman should die?
Anyone wish to guess how popular Lincoln was when he refused to honor STATE RIGHTS and let the South Secede? How popular was liberating the slaves? Perhaps they should have run a poll. [/sarcasm]
Right and wrong are absolutes. So, no, to those hoping a poll will discourage you may rest uneasy because I'm not deterred in the slightest. I will defend right even if I'm the only sole being that still recognizes it, though apparently there are still some that do aside from myself.
The next years are going to be spent slowly chipping away at this culture that led to this result. Mark it.
Nope
Not even the posters on FR that want to kill her would do that.
People have their own histories and seek to justify themselves for one reason or another.
The execution of Terri Schiavo helps us understand why the people of Jerusalem, living under occupation, were unable to stop the execution of Jesus.
There are people who are legitimately concerned about government intervention, not in the Terri Schiavo case specifically, but in their own cases when they or their relatives die. That is the Achilles' Heel of this case.
There will always be temporary spits of utter chaos when a major event like this happens that hits us emotionally.
Freepers are human beings and react like them when hit emotionally.
In a month or so (don't think a week or even two is early enough due to the earthquake that hit FR), things will be back to normal with the usual reasoned discourse.
The GOP may have capitulated to the lawyers in black dresses on starving a woman to death for no good godammned reason, but on balance were on the right side.
They just need to wrap Schiavo around the neck of the left and the leftist judiciary in particular.
Apparently Fox and other conservative media haven't read Goebbels playbook by which you counter enemy propagnda immediately with your own.
Dumb bastards.
thats all well and good, but guess what, he was.
Flame the people in Pinellas county, not me, over that one.
LOL
good riddance too....you obviously have no idea what we are doing in the Middle East but let me guess, you will say Oil right?
