Police have canceled an Amber Alert after finding a body in rural Johnson County. A positive identification of the body has not been made.
The Alert had been issued after ten-year-old Jetseta Gage disappeared from her Cedar Rapids home on Thursday night.
Police located 37-year-old Roger Paul Bentley in Johnson County this morning. He is in custody but has not been charged.
Jetsetta's mother Trena Gage says the Bently was a family friend who worked on her car occassionally. He was at the home from about noon until eight and Gage says her son saw the 10-year-old get into Bentley's truck. She told TV9, "My son said he saw my daughter in the truck...she has permission because because we've known him so long. I got back at 8:30 and she was gone."
"I'm distraught. I'm just praying," Trena told the Cedar Rapids Gazette. "I just want her home."
Jetseta, who is mentally challenged, is a white 10-year-old, stands 4 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 90 pounds. Again, she was last seen wearing an orange coat and purple pants.
The suspect Roger Bently is listed on the Iowa Sex Offenders Registry for a 1994 Buchanan County conviction involving a white female under age 13.
I have no problem executing the ones who kill their victims like this vermin did. The only issue is what method to use. Personally, I would prefer to go back to public hangings in the courthouse square.
The problem is what to do with pedophiles who do not kill their victims. Although I believe that they deserve to die, there must be a greater punishment for those who kill than for those who do not. Otherwise, they will all kill their victims. If the punishment is the same either way, why would any of them allow a victim to live, who can later pick them out of a line up and testify against them?
What is it with these guys with three names.
ACLU (after helping put Terri Schiavo to death) will do all within its power to secure the freedom of child molestors, after they "do their time". Count on it.

Question: since he was picked up in Johnson county, wonder if he will be tried here? This county is known for liberal judges. Not that Cedar Rapids is any better...

It most certainly is tragic. Sex offenses ought to result in automatic death after conviction imo. Yes DNA to make absolutely sure. There are way too many of them murdering our kids.
I wonder what the conviction rate is for people who have been wrongly accused?
