Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
I was in three hospitals in Scottsdale almost four months 09-2004 to 01-2005.
I just want to let you know how much I admire you.
Every day I think about some of my nurses in those very dark and difficult times. I love them dearly.
I think that's a great idea, Mema.
I don't think Mikey's that deep. He brought friends to gloat and laugh at Terri's bedside. He's enjoying himself. He doesn't yet realize he's a pawn and once Felos gets what he wants, he's expendable to Felos.
Because he didn't have more news for them....because he's a nice man.....he said hoping for favorable appeal to the 11th
Wouldn't take questions about Jeb
I think he realizes the press get all giddy when it's said the family will speak and he really didn't have any new info
God bless this family and give them as much comfort as is Divinely possible.
hypocrites!
Kids are GREAT, aren't they? Thanks for sharing.
count me in
I'm directing this question to you since you seem to know a lot about this subject of "end-of-life" choices. Do you know a website that keeps an eye on the law in different states or shows how far the "right to die" has progressed? There is little more I can do to help Terri, but I would like to be able to ensure this cannot happen in my state.
Thank you for your help.
I would never subject my children to Catholic school. BTDT and have the scars to prove it. They'll remain in public school. But this is about Terri so I will leave it at that.
Because NOW is Pro-choice
Not Pro-life
We won't be seeing the NOW Gang coming anywhere near this case of a women being starved to death by court order
My husband says he is afraid for what is going to happen to Michael Schiavo. Very afraid . . . this is spiritually speaking, mind you.
I had an email this morning from an acquaintance who was gloating and poking fun at me about Terri. Salt in the wound. I think we need to gird up our loins as it were to withstand these darts. They are going to be flying.
I am SOOOOOO proud of us FReepers right now. I could cry!! We have stayed the course.
As the three young men said when they were about to be thrown in the fiery furnace - I can't quote it exactly but it went something like this. We know our God is able to deliver us but if not WE WILL STILL NOT BOW!!
Hallelujah!!! I am more in love with Heavenly Father than ever before. I am determined to spread His Gospel far and wide - to bring new ones safely in to this Old Gospel Ship. Jump in, the water's fine!!!
If Terri lives, hallelujah! If Terri dies, hallelujah!! Terri is our darling little sister.
"It is good to see that Terri's end of life wishes will finally be honored."
Where do you get the crazy idea that Terri wished to be starved to death?
Do you have evidence for this claim?
Yes, very heart breaking
"I can sure identify!! I have often thought that I probably would have been " Peter", who chopped off the Roman Soldier's ear!!"
I've always identified with Mary Magdalene myself.. I was a mess before I came to Christ... and I could definitely wash His feet with my tears! and I've always envied her at the tomb, the joy of seeing Him alive!
polly, I 'm at my part time job and can't get to a tv, could you give a synopsis please???
So Florida is now a police state, in effect. Got it.
Love you back.
I have been posting on a million and one places...This has gotten so out of hand! The whole right to die issue applies only to those at end of life or terminally ill. Felos as usurped the argument and the sheep have followed. Here is what I've been sending gov and pres Bush as well as news agencies and other blogs....
You (Florida) have laws specifically outlawing Euthenasia. You cannot stop a court ordered Euthenasia? It is now legal in Florida to kill someone because they are miserable or we perceive them as miserable?
From the Oregon Physician Assisted Suicide FAQ page:
Q: What is Oregon's Death with Dignity Act?
A: The Death with Dignity Act permits physicians to write prescriptions for a lethal dosage of medication to people with a terminal illness. This procedure is also known as physician-assisted suicide.
Terri Schiavo was never dying. She had no terminal illness. She only needed food and water. Florida has now made it possible to kill someone because they are miserable or because we perceive them as miserable.
Florida has its own laws against euthanasia. The laws in Terris case have been misapplied. There is much precedent when and executive has stepped in to right a wrong. Please dont wait until she is dead.
Terri's death now makes it legal to kill by starvation and dehydration, a universally recognized cruelty, anyone we perceive as miserable or who perceives themselves as miserable.
"Terri said she didn't want to be kept alive by artificial means, the way she is now. "
This is a feeding tube, not a life-support respirator.
"There's no question that she would want to die by removal of life support. "
"Feeding" is not 'life support'.
