Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
I am trying to plant the seed. I don't know anyone that is yet...maybe some Florida freepers can help out with this?
" It is up to the local good people to not satisfy their conscience by cowering in a nice warm place and hear platitudes, empty prayers, and nice music. Especially on "Good Friday" when a lot of ppl have the day off and can be there. IMHO."
Yes, definitely. Unfortunately, most are probably at Disney World. People in our culture have become far too materialistic and pleasure focused - this is a big part of our problem.
Yep. I am ready to stand for life. We need to make a difference. Do everything in our power to change what is going on in this country.
"So, he is duty bound to do it, and if he does not, then the responsibility for the outcome rests squarely on his shoulders, because the executive is charged with the power to act. The judiciary can opine. The legislature can legislate. Only Jeb Bush can act to save her life.""
Absolutely TRUE! sorry those who don't want me blaming Jeb, but these words cannot be faulted..there is not a single UNTRUTH in them.
Behaviors such as bullying, intimidation, lying , and manipulation?
The police are in on it too. I keep saying, the Good Ol' Boy network runs deep. The sheriff and Judge Greer are buddies, and the sheriff also hired Michael Schiavo to work for him. Prior to her death, Jodi's mother worked for the sheriff for 16 years. The police, the sheriff's department, the judiciary, lawyers, the hospice, auditors, county elected officials.... The web is large and tangled. I wonder if there aren't shades of some sort of organized crime that they're all trying to protect.
What I got was in an Article by Wesley J. Smith, Dehydration Nation.
It talk's about the case in the article.
You really need to read it!

ACTION ALERT WITH JEB'S PHONE AND EMAIL:
Time is running out for Terri Schiavo. She's been
starving to death for seven days now. An expert neurologist
from the Mayo Clinic has testified that she is NOT in a
"persistent vegetative state," but is very aware of what
is going on around her. That means that in her present
state, she is in a great deal of pain and suffering from
starving to death -- she just can't communicate that fact
to those around her. Contrary to those that try to paint
a picture of a "gentle process," death by dehydration is a
cruel, inhumane and often agonizing death.
We MUST stop this inhumanity NOW.
Governor Jeb Bush is Terri's last hope. But it's not looking
very likely that he'll act on the authority he has... unless
he hears from YOU and ME in a powerful way, RIGHT NOW.
We had a meeting on Wednesday between folks from RightMarch
(William Greene and our attorney, Larry Klayman) and Governor
Bush's chief counsel (his top lawyer on staff). We presented
information on why the Governor has the authority RIGHT NOW
under Florida Law and the state constitution to take Terri
into protective custody NOW, and save her life.
Gov. Bush failed to take action.
We had a meeting on Thursday between our folks (this time,
Larry Klayman AND Ambassador Alan Keyes) and Gov. Bush's
Chief of Staff. Dr. Keyes eloquently explained to him why
the Governor has the authority RIGHT NOW under Florida Law
and the state constitution to take Terri into protective
custody NOW, and save her life.
Gov. Bush failed to take action.
In fact, at one point, we received definitive word that the
Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) was on
their way to the hospice where Terri is being held, to take
her in and re-insert her feeding tube. Then, the little
dictatorial tyrant, Judge Greer, gave an order for them to
NOT take her. They could have -- and should have -- ignored
this unconstitutional and illegal order... but Gov. Bush
told them to stop.
Gov. Bush failed to take action.
This is OUTRAGEOUS. Judge Greer has shown more courage in
trying to KILL Terri Schiavo than Gov. Bush has shown in
trying to save her. But instead of facing Judge Greer down
like he should have... Bush blinked.
This is THE pivotal moment in Gov. Bush's political career.
He MUST be a hero for Terri Schiavo. He needs to step up
to the plate NOW, and exercise his constitutional and legal
authority NOW, before Terri dies. But he doesn't seem to
be willing to take that chance and do it... so we need to
help encourage him.
So once more, we need YOUR help.
We need EVERYONE READING THIS MESSAGE to call Governor
Jeb Bush RIGHT AWAY, and ask him to do one simple thing:
"PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY, AND
TAKE TERRI SCHIAVO INTO PROTECTIVE CUSTODY RIGHT AWAY."
That's all we're asking you to do. Just call Gov. Bush
NOW and beg him to save Terri's life, using the power he
already has.
TAKE ACTION: PLEASE call Governor Jeb Bush's office NOW
at 850-488-4441 (or fax him at 850-487-0801), asking him
to exercise the executive powers he ALREADY HAS, and take
custody of Terri Schiavo to save her from being starved
to death. You can also e-mail him at jeb@myflorida.com .
We've been here lobbying the Governor all week long. We've
had daily prayer vigils in his office, and nightly vigils
outside of his mansion at 700 North Adams. Hundreds of
people have been outside of Terri's hospice in Pinellas
Park, and we have chartered buses to bring many of them
here to Tallahassee to plead with Gov. Bush to use the
powers he has NOW to save Terri's life NOW.
Even Terri's parents, the Schindlers, will be on ALL THREE
major network morning shows today, thanks to our efforts,
pleading with Gov. Bush to act quickly. And we'll be here
ALL DAY on Good Friday to ask Gov. Bush to intervene to
save the life of Terri Schiavo. The governor has it within
his power to rescue Terri, and her life is in the governor's
hand.
You can click below to read -- AND USE -- the five legal
briefs that explain to Gov. Jeb Bush that he has the legal
authority to save Terri Schiavo:

Call Gov. Bush NOW and ask him to USE his legal powers to save
Terri's life. For the sake of Terri's life, we CANNOT afford
to wait while the courts bicker over jurisdiction -- and we
CANNOT let little two-bit judges order the Executive branch
to not do their duty.
NOTE: It's been very expensive for us to engage in this
activism in Tallahassee and Pinellas Park this week. We
reserved hotel rooms; we rented meeting halls for rallies
and activist/lobbying training sessions; we rented buses to
bring people from Pinellas Park to Tallahasee -- TWICE; we
flew legal experts like Alan Keyes and Larry Klayman in to
meet with Governor Bush's people; we've spent funds on tons
of media and press releases... the list goes on and on.
We're asking you to give a donation to help with our activism
efforts to save Terri's life. Battles cost money; resources
cost money; media costs money; I could go on, but you get the
picture. I am asking you to show your support by making as
generous a contribution as you can to this effort. (Gifts are
not tax deductible.)

Thank you for your concern, your prayers, your efforts, and
your support. Together, we can prevail against judicial
tyranny, and rescue Terri Schiavo from a cruel death.
Please keep us in your prayers.
Be sure to send this Alert to everyone you know who wants
to help save Terri's life. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Randall Terry

This morning, I received an email from an acquaintance who was poking fun at me, teasing and mocking me about Terri. It was very cruel. I think we better get ready to withstand more of this. God bless America.
"But the more I learn the more determined I am to act."
YES!
So glad you understood the 'Florida thing' wasn't directed at you or your post.
The law regarding hydration/nutrition via feeding tube was enacted in '98 or '99. IIRC, Felos had some input as an 'end of life' expert. The detail is somewhere in the Terri threads. The first effort to kill Terri was in 2000, so attention has been on Florida since then.
The forces that are driving this are achieving their political goals as well as their obvious goal. Terri (and for that matter MRS) is nothing more than a tool to them.
If, as I fear, they are successful, this horrible event must not be forgotten. I have not read 'Men in Black' yet, but seems a place to start.
Is there anyone here who can't identify now with how the disciples felt 2000 years ago on this day?
Thank you Lord Jesus for what you did, and willingly.
The Lord has an uncanny way of turning death into life, however. Even if our sister Terri dies, the Lord will use this for good...even if it is just exposing the true evil roots in the system...and making the Republican party take a good, long, hard look at itself and what is is becoming.
I was responding to the ridiculous comments on the petition, tutstar; as you can see, I quoted "I see the need for a more secure petition site." The comments made are there are childish.
Here is a great example of what they will do if you don't act:
Wesley J. Smith, from his article Dehydration Nation
The worst of these cases of which I am aware is the tragic dehydration of Marjorie Nighbert. Marjorie was a successful businesswoman until a stroke left her disabled. She was unable to swallow safely, but not terminally ill. She was moved from Alabama to a nursing home in Florida where she would receive rehabilitation to help her relearn how to chew and swallow without danger of aspiration. A feeding tube was inserted to ensure that she was properly nourished during her recovery.
Marjorie had once told her brother Maynard that she didnt want a feeding tube if she were terminally ill. Despite the fact that she was not dying, Maynard believed that she had meant that she would rather die by dehydration than live the rest of her life using a feeding tube. Accordingly, he ordered all of Marjories nourishment stopped.
As she was slowly dehydrating to death, Marjorie began to beg the staff for food and water. Distraught nurses and staff members, not knowing what else to do, surreptitiously snuck her small amounts. One stafferwho was later fired for the deedblew the whistle, leading to a hurried court investigation and a temporary restraining order requiring that Marjorie receive nourishment.
Circuit Court Judge Jere Tolton appointed attorney William F. Stone to represent Marjorie and gave him twenty-four hours to determine whether she was competent to rescind the general power of attorney she had given to Maynard before her stroke. After the rushed investigation, Stone was forced to report that Marjorie was not competent at that time. (She had, after all, been intentionally malnourished for several weeks.) Stone particularly noted that he had been unable to determine whether she had been competent at the time the dehydration commenced.
With Stones report in hand, Judge Tolton ruled that the dehydration should be completed! Before an appalled Stone could appeal, Marjorie died on April 6, 1995.

(first time I read this, I thought maybe she died before the restarted...but on a second read, I bet she died from the continuation of the dehydration.)
Lord Jesus,I pray right now for any last minute rescue efforts that can be taken on behalf of Terri. We have prayed and asked that you protect Terri's vital organs and keep her alive, through a supernatural infusing of Your blood and grace. We know that Terri is in YOUR Hands. We Know that You stand on the side of life. Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Your people, who are called by YOUR NAME. FOR YOUR SAKE, and THE SAKE OF YOUR CHURCH, amen

I am convinced that our children, being brought up in righteousness in truth in Christian schools or, like ours, homeschools, are the only hope for this corrupt nation.
thanks!
I said last night Bobby S. should run for office.
I will be gone all day to church and getting ready for a special Good Friday dinner.
Bless all of you here. I will miss you, today. :)
Prayers continue for Terri and family.
Btw, I just read someone said to organize a protest march. An absolutely great idea.
