what does tin foil mean it is a phrase Americans use when someone thinks the world or space invaders are coming to get them; it basically means we think the person is a little crazy.

"That's about how long it usually takes for the thread hijacking attempt to take place."

What is that supposed to mean?

How about not bringing immigration into every thread? There are enough posted already without the need for hijacking more.

This is the standard line out of the Houston FBI. They never solve anything. Houston must be the dumping ground for all the incompetent agents.

Actually the kids were wearing them. when Gibson came back from meeting the Vet, his brother had one on to. It was a pretty funny scene.

Grain of salt, grain of salt. This is from Reuters, remember, and this plant has a history of safety problems. Might just be wishful thinking on the part of the creeps.

Would we be told if there was?

I just love the tin foil bunch. A few questions:

1) Have you noted that there are fewer refinery problems in the last couple of years than ever before?

2) Would it not be in the interest of the government to tell us it was terrorist? If they try to keep the interest level of the TV generation up without something happening the interest will fail.

3) Would it not be in BP's interest to avoid huge lawsuits by showing it was terrorist rather than an internal problem?

4) If you were going to cause an economic disruption, wouldn't you bomb a part of the plant that would effect gasoline production? Might you not even plant more than one bomb while inside?

5) Have you any idea how often this has happened before?

Time magazine quote:
“The number of illegal aliens flooding into the US this year will total 3 million - enough to fill 22,000 Boeing 727-700 airliners, or 60 flights every day for a year.”

I don't believe it, there was no upgrade in the Terror Alert Level. As far as I know it's like orange or peach or mango or something.

You make to much common sense... If they really wanted to so some damage, the refinery would not be standing right now.

"On the other hand, wouldn't it be good for the admin. if we had some terror attacks. "

After dropping $40 Billion on Homeland Security, $200+ Billion in removing Saddam (And supposedly making the world a safer place in the process), and the Patriot Act, I'd think a terror attack on US soil some 3.5 years after 9-11 would NOT be a good thing for this admin, as the anti-Iraq War crowd would then claim that ridding Saddam did nothing to stop terrorism, etc.

There'd certainly be noone to blame but Bush if this happened. I don't think it'd be a good thing at all!

I found this on another thread. I believe the border to be Mexico. That was the topic of the thread. The southern border between Mexico and AZ.

"nobody calls that area "the Levant" anymore." ... My thoughts also.

In the early part of the 20th Century the Brits used to use Levant in common discourse, but that appears to have faded away. The last time I came across obscure references to the Levant was in history books many, many years ago doing research on God only knows what, as I have completely forgotten.

Who knows, maybe Persia (a/k/a Iran) will come back into vogue also? The concept of the Levant is making a comeback?? Methinks not
