Tonight it is, March 22, 2005, over five days since Theresa Marie Schiavo commenced her ordeal of purposeful and legally sanctioned dehydration and starvation. We await a decision from the three judge panel from Eleventh Judicial Circuit as to her fate, as her family struggles with seeing Terri's physical health deteriorate.

I'm just starting to read this thread, and have been out of the house all evening, so here goes with stupid question....Does anyone know when the 11th circuit may come in with a ruling?

No question is ever stupid, or so my dad told me often!!....There are or were reporters outside the courtroom waiting before 6pm pst,but so far no action. I cannot imagine that it would go much longer.

I can relate in a way. I am hypoglycemic and need to eat often. I take food everywhere with me and people have asked me why I'm always eating. I'm afraid of passing out and dying.

Friday I was so upset and angry that I said I was going to fast until terri's tube was put back in. Three hours later I was sweating, shaking, dizzy and shoving food in my mouth as I layed on the living room floor hoping I didn't pass out.

I just can't imagine someone going this long without food!!!!! 5 days?? And I know she went longer before. Is this normal, that a person can live this long without food and water, or is this an unheard of miracle?

I was thinking about that earlier too. You'd be shot before you got near her.

Personally, I'd take my chances and let the baby live and leave that decision up to God. I don't think it's our place to decide which human life should be snuffed and which should be saved. Those three children could also be deprived of their mother if the mother got into a car accident or something similar. Taking a child's life is never acceptable.

Of course, but I'm not the one making the arguments. They are. It is up to them to defend those positions.

I stand on the side of Life.

Here are the medical facts on what happens to a person who is "medically" starved to death:
"Removal of the G-tube would likely create various effects from the lack of hydration and nutrition, leading ultimately to death. Brophy's mouth would dry out and become caked or coated with thick material. His lips would become parched and cracked. His tongue would swell, and might crack. His eyes would recede back into their orbits and his cheeks would become hollow. The lining of his nose might crack and cause his nose to bleed. His skin would hang loose on his body and become dry and scaly. His urine would become highly concentrated, leading to burning of the bladder. The lining of his stomach would dry out and he would experience dry heaves and vomiting. His body temperature would become very high. His brain cells would dry out, causing convulsions. His respiratory tract would dry out, and the thick secretions that would result could plug his lungs and cause death. At some point within five days to three weeks his major organs, including his lungs, heart, and brain, would give out and he would die. The judge found that death by dehydration is extremely painful and uncomfortable for a human being. The judge could not rule out the possibility that Paul Brophy could experience pain in such a scenario. Paul Brophy's attending physician described death by dehydration as cruel and violent."

Thumbs up to whichever Freeper chose the word "dehydration"! When you consider how dreadful it is to be thirsty for even an hour, imagining actual dehydration becomes unbearable. O God, hear the prayers of all these Freepers. Please intervene and save Terri Schiavo.

I don't think I could fault the mother for making either choice.

No way I'd kill my child to save my own life, and I could never respect... heck I could never stomach being in the same room with a woman who could do that.

According to congressman King (Iowa), Michael Schiavo REFUSED to answer if there IS or IS NOT any insurance policy on Terri's life.

I would think that is a VERY important question for ANY judge to ask in any of these hearings!!!

That's my opinion, based on the fact that NCLaw411 was able to obtain some kind of information concerning the Schaivo case.
