US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)

Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro

This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).

The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they don’t want to be known as the party that killed Terri.

This is American history happening before your eyes.

nelson is going to abandon the senate for the governor term limited seat?

Both of them are going to have to beat Lawton Childes' son and namesake.

after tonight she is finished. She is in a heavy religious area. She sold out for her leftwing university buddy.

It's a long story, and I'm tired. But this was the 1st case in which the court decided, not just a particular dispute, but declared to power to void laws (or actions of the executive branch) if the court deemed them unconstitutional, i.e., the power of "judicial review." This is taken for granted today, and some would argue that it's always implicit in the fuction of the judiciary, but this was the 1st time in America the court declared explicity that it had that power. ("[I]t is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is...")

And what made Marshall the tricky bastard that he was is that he did it under the cover of judicial modesty, in the course of denying that the Supreme Court had jurisdiction in a particular matter.

So he ordered no extra-constitutional remedy. But he laid the foundation for the court making stuff up in the future, e.g., right to abortion, a commerce clause that gives Congress the power to do almost anything, etc.

Such an obvious thing, yet Greer screwed it up with hearsay. That is the mistake which must be corrected.

Jeb and George W - both men of high moral fiber. Thank God for them. The apples didn't fall far from the tree (George HW and Barbara).

Thanks for posting. Our five Oklahoma Congressmen Republicans Cole, Istook, Lucas, and Sullivan and Democrat Boren all vote in support of Life. Sure glad Dan Boren replaced that RAT Carson. We had 100% participation by our Reps!

I think it was removed for spamming. She posted the same very long post many times and on different threads.

BOB SCHINDLER:

I asked Terri 'are you ready to take a little ride?'

I told Terri 'we're gonna take a little ride and get you some breakfast' and I got a big smile out of her face.

Are you saying then that if the SCOTUS rules on this case it will have the same overall national effect on the life of the disabled that Roe vs Wade did on abortion.....Then the "D" who said this wasn't wide enough coverage would be happy.

You have correctly intuited the motivation on many of them. I responded to a gentleman last night.

Stopping treatment, food, fluids or otherwise on a patient that is near death and has no hope for recovery is a far cry from stopping food and fluids on someone with a nearly perfectly functioning body.

In their hearts they are uneasy. It is also a comparision between apples and a dropped melon.

she is in hospice, if you go into hospice means you are not comming out alive. Hospice is for the soon to be dead.

She's been there 5 years - got that?

It was illegal to put her there - it's for the terminally ill expected to die within 6 months. She was not dying. She was not terminal.

There should be some criminal actions down the line on this - I understand that when she was imprisoned there that Michael's lawyer owned interest in it?
