Today we met in Fayetteville, NC to Freep a motley rabble of socialists, anarchists, Code Pink-os, and other throwbacks to the 60's! As usual, we were well outnumbered by their hordes of college students, aging hippies and other bused-in protestors, but we held our own as always.
Please post any reports and observations on this thread only.
Now that I'm home able to read this thread and post let me be the 312th person to say "GREAT JOB, TAXRELIEF!"
Great job Freepers of NC. Just wanted to remind the locals who left early. We can to stand with you. Sorry you had to leave so early.
He's been doing this since his son was beheaded. A D.C. group called DAWN, protested at Rumsfeld's house awhile back and he was there. We counter protested and had 8 former Iraqi prisoners who had their hands cut off counter protesting with us. We challenged Berg to come over and talk to these men. He wouldn't do it.
That was an ugly incident, especially since Sally was underfoot there by the curb. Maybe I'll rope the kids together at future FReeps!
At least I don't have a dumb look on my face ...
I'm so sorry I missed that.
I'm going to be pretty busy at work today, but I'll get on at lunch to respond to pings, etc.
Have a good morning!
....notice there is at least one dope in the background waving the V for Victory sign...
It came to me too late, the counter sign must be three extended fingers, a spread Scout sign, signifying "W". As it n"W" won.
Jumpin Jack had 3 posterboards with 6 different messages. Other than tgslTakoma's MOAB, they were the best I've seen for content. Maybe we can use one of those messages for tgslTakoma's next MOAB.
Who is the Freeper in the red hat with the black patch on his butt?
He was looney.
Sorry I couldn't make it this year. Kudos to all who did.
It looks like they took Paul Newman's picture off of the "ice cream truck".
kristinn said his picture made the Raleigh newspaper.
He was one of the leftists who came over to eat our snacks and wound up wanting to hold some of our signs. He was relatively harmless, though, so we let him be. I think he's over at DU talking about it now.
He wasn't that harmless: when the police pinned Rann Bar-On, he started screaming "police brutality" or some such. That's when we gave him the toss.
You handled the press well. If we have to do this next year, i hope we can drag more people to town.
We missed you, but thanks for sending some of your fellow SC FReepers. :-)
The bearded guy is definitely not the Heckler in question.
I have to say our Freeper gals were all great out there...and babes too!....I can say this cuz Im old and it's permissable according to the OLD GUY RULE BOOK!
I was really looking forward to this reporting & it was so much fun to watch it unfold from various eyes, cameras, perspectives... I encourage all to post good sized pictures (not reference to postage size ones).. and label them. It is so helpful. Great the kids were with you. They see that the bullies in the world aren't just in 3rd grade.
Did you all have a purple heart cermemony for Bert?
Good job...I felt like I was there. you don't know how much I wanted to be there..as is couldn't make it to our local ones.. Pretty sick here still,
