If you don't mind me asking, what happened to the poor kid? Did he sue? Did the doctor suffer any consequences at all?

She's not spoken a single word in 15 years, any noises she's made are likely from stomach gases. Thank you for your firsthand report from Terri's bedside. I hope Terri gets to appear before Congress, so we can all witness what you have witnessed.
Michael Schiavo has done too good a job of hiding Terri from public view.

Will Terri's mother even be let in the room? MIchael does not allow anyone but himself and his girlfriend (!) in the room. And probably some nurses and doctors he has screened. I do seem to remember he won't allow the parents to see her anymore.

He's not in contempt until a federal judge rules he is.
Can congress issue a finding of contempt of congress, or does a federal judge have to do that?

If anyone ever gets a single bed sore or single contracture it is medical abuse. You only get them from lousy nursing care. That's what killed Christopher Reeve.

We cannot condone violence. Passive resistance is one thing, but no physical harm should come to ANYBODY - including Terri.

This attempted murder must be stopped my any means necessary. Evil will prevail if good people do nothing. The time to act is now.

If the last 2 attempts on Terri's life are any indication, ariamne, then I doubt her parents will get much chance to see her.
Terri's trapped in a kafkaesque nightmare.
I don't have any words harsh enough for those who have put her there.

"It´s terrible that Terri didn´t write down her thoughts, this should be a lesson for all of us!! Nothing should be above the free will of the individual human."
Yes, because we don't know whether her thoughts about this were to live or to not live. And people can change their minds about this, too.
I'm sure there've been times I've said things along the lines of not wanting to live if I were on a ventilator. But, I can also say that I wouldn't want to die by starvation/dehydration. I've never written down whether I'd want to live or die, or under what circumstances it would be one versus the other.
On another thread, where I wrote that I wouldn't want to die that way, one person's response was along the lines of "20 years of torture vs. 2 weeks of torture, oooh, tough choice" [paraphrase]. Being that I've had chronic pain for 20+ years (and believe me there've been times when I have wanted to die) I still think I'd rather go through another 20 or 30 years than spend 2-3 weeks starving and dehydrating. I haven't given up hope of finding some modality that will help. Despite it all, I'm still glad to be here.
But back to the thing about people changing their minds. My sister works in a hospital. The other night she was present when a doctor was checking with a patient about whether she wanted to keep her DNR (do not resuscitate) order in place. The conversation had some double negatives in it, and the patient was agreeing with the doctor. After the doctor left, she said, "Tell him to save me. I want to be saved." So, my sister went to the doctor, told him, and he went back to clarify things with the patient. The discussion resulted in the doctor removing the DNR order.

I am not an American however the declaration of independence resonates for all of us. You Americans have been endowed by a higher power to bring liberty where there is none and freedom from tyranny and persecution. A noble endeavor indeed. God bless you all.
Now god damn it let's do all we can to save this woman!!!

The thing I hate is feeling so helpless. I've sent emails to everybody I can think of, but I hope the authorized people on the ground in Florida will find a way to take matters into their own hands, if needs be.

"Nurses say she says some words. Hard to say without a videotape (which I thought i heard michael also forbids now that those other videos of her looking cognizant got out)"
Good enough for me. If a single nurse claims it, I'll believe it. Why not? This reminds me of Lord of the Rings, Return of the King, when the father tries to burn his son.

Yours is a most dishonest statement. I've seen the video myself, as have many others here.
