Dirty Footprints (Patti's Pitiful Lament -Bwa Haa Haa)
Newsweek/MSNBC ^ | 03/17/2005 | Patti Davis

Dirty Footprints - We must write letters of outrage to the senators who voted to drill in ANWR, says our columnist. But maybe all there is left to do is weep. President Bush must be feeling so victorious. The Senate has now said yes to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge—the pristine place President Eisenhower took measures to protect in 1960.

Environmental groups have said the fight isn’t over, and I want to believe there is still something we can do—write letters, e-mails, rise up en masse and say no. But I don’t know if anything will help at this point. It’s possible that the only thing we will be able to do is weep—at the devastation of wild, untamed land where caribou are free to breed and give birth far away from the harm that humans bring. Where polar bear are a common sight and where cars and trucks and engines are never heard. Where people are outnumbered by the vast numbers of birds and animals—safe for the moment, but soon to be doomed.....

Forget about the animals, we're ALL doomed, DOOMED I tell you. What a bunch of wusses!

She's especially vitriolic in this piece - Really pathetic. She does invoke McCain though, as an opponent of ANWR. Not surprising really.

Schadenfreude is so satisfying!

The area they're drilling in is a desolate, barren tundra.

Black gold, Texas tea...

Go hug a tree, Patti. Or better yet, strap yourself to a Caribou. :^)

fifty years from now I am going to take Patti Davis on a trip to ANWAR, show her it's continued pristineness, then bitch slap her back to today. But, I will wait fifty years.

A young disabled woman's life is going to end because some Nazi loving judge and her adulterous husband are going to pull her feeding tube in less than 24 hours and the left, all they care about is the caribou.

Well boo hoo, what crazy nihilistic fools.

I would have but it wasn't descriptive. Probably should have squeezed it into the parens. Sorry. Can you mention ANWR somewhere in the title?

These bleeding heart tree huggers make me sick! If they had their way, we (not they) all would still be living in caves and eating raw meat (while they continue to live their lives as they see fit). I wish we could find a cave big enough for them all so we could stick them in it and seal it shut!!!

Am I wrong or wouldn't an oil rig in ANWR be on a scale something like loosing a dime in the Sahara Desert?

"Great men, it seems, often have pathetic and dysfunctional children."

I was going to say "(One of the two Reagan Dysfunctional Spawn Laments ANWR)" in the Thread Title but I didn't want people to go crazy thinking I was insulting Reagan.

The polar bears and caribou would probably welcome a little humanoid diversion from the unyielding arctic tundra existence!

Caribou? They don't care. The population of the Central Artic caribou herd near the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay has grown an average of 8.5% per year. The oil exploration operations don't bother them a bit.

the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge will forever be scarred by what this president set into motion.

When ANWR was created in 1980 a section was set aside for oil exploration. It is that area in which the Senate has approved oil exploration. Imagine that. Exploring for oil in a section of ANWR that was set aside for exploring for oil. Who would have thunk it?

I don’t believe this is even about oil; after all, we won’t see any of it for another decade.

Never underestimate the determination of the American worker. If the "experts" say 10 years, think 3 years....I believe they completed the Alaskan Pipeline much quicker than estimated...

We will be left with the damage this administration has caused, with scars on the earth and memories of wildlife that used to roam and fly over vast acres … before they started dying.

Scars on the earth? WHAT DO YOU THINK THE GRAND CANYON IS, STUPID!!!!! Man didn't do it....As far as the animals, re-read my first comment....

The variability of Oil prices and OPEC's manipulation of them to thwart alternatives was possible until the Dollar began it's descent. Now, in order to do their manipulations, it would require real pain on their part.
